Hello...I am new to your forum. I have been a Diamond Mind game player, and had to purchase individual seasons to be able to play out seasons. Is that how it is done with PureSim? If not, how would I go about playing out a season, lets say the 1941 season? Thanks..I am waiting for the 2007 version to get started.

Welcome. With PS, via the Lahman Database, you can re-create any season, using real players. This feature is included with the game.

Thanks Motnahp...I am really looking forward to the new version...one other question...can one mix and match teams in a given league?...For example...if I want to take 30 of the greatest teams, and put them in a league, could I play out an entire season with standings and statistics?..Thanks...

I don't think you can do that as quickly as you'd want to, but with the "Import Players" function, you can import any player (or groups of players) into your association.

Many seasons ago, I started my favorite association in this exact same way. I started with 10 teams, 35 players each. You would need to start the teams with all fictional players, then release them or "force retire" them. A quicker way would be to open their individual cards and change them one-by-one to Free Agents (using "Edit Player").

You may want to leave the financials off when you create your association. If not, you will end up "paying" 70 players and may run out of money. If this happens, though, you can go into the players' cards and change their salaries.

Once you've done that, you could add any or all of the players you imported. Using their "Edit Player" box, you could assign them to any team in the league. If you start an association with ficticious teams, you will need to change the team names & stadiums, as well.

The setup I use is Multi-Player, and I assign all players to human control. If you leave any of the teams under computer control, you will allow the AI to make trades and sign/release players without your approval. Soon after, you would see teams releasing weaker "real" players and replacing them with strong "ficticious" players. This would defeat the purpose of what you've already done, so don't let it happen. Have fun with it.[:)]

Thanks again Motnahp. Boy, that sure seems to be a lot of work, just to put some actual teams together in one association. Maybe they will come up with an easier way of doing it. I would think others would be doing something like that...putting an association together with some of the greatest teams of all time, and seeing how it would play out.
