What would be the procedure to follow if I wanted to command a single Corps/Army and let the computer handle the rest?

Computer control is set for the HQs only, so if you wanted to command a single corps (or Soviet army) you must assign it to an HQ as the only unit by using the Change HQ command. Then you have to set each HQ that you want the computer to control to Computer Full Control by double clicking on the HQ and choosing HQ Contrl, or using the keyboard
using Alt-K after selecting the HQ. This will leave you with whatever control level you want. It probably does not make much sense to try and control a single corps this way, unless you want an HQ to only have one corps, but that is how you would have to do it, or any other mix.
