I heard the anthem, but once the game started, I did not hear a sound for the rest of the game. Can anyone help me with that?

I would be interested in the answer here also. I am having the same problem.

I alerted Shaun about this same problem a few days ago. We are still trying to figure out why it is happening. Hopefully, it can be corrected, if not now, maybe in the updated version.

I am still looking at what might be causing this. I play the sound via directx, nothing special. (Note: the one sound I don't play through DirectX is the anthem)

Do your other games play sound ok?

Hi...Yes, I have no problems with other games sounds...I do hear the "now Batting...Keith Hernandez"...and the anthem, but nothing else...

Same problem here - times when there is no ambient sound after the anthem.

It has been caused whenever I make some change to the game. When I
clicked on the Enable Speech Engine this occurred. When I loaded a
facepack it occurred. When I loaded and assigned some logos it occurred.
I also read on this forum someone having this problem after loading
ballparks.

On each occasion of this happening I needed to reboot my system to
get the ambient sounds to return.

Hope that may help Shaun with troubleshooting.

Can everyone seeing this do the following:

1. Turn off the speech option
2. Make sure the sound option is on
3. Reboot
4. Play

The reboot has always worked for me. However this morning it looks like
simply exiting the game and restarting the game resets the problem.

So I Enabled Speech Engine then loaded Game. I immediately notice
that I have lost the "Bat Sound" when selecting items from the menus.
And I have no ambient sound in PSPNCast. Exiting and restarting the
game the "Bat sound" is back and I head Speech AND ambient sounds
in PSPNCast.

Then if I go to Main screen and disable Speech Engine the same
scenario occur. No sounds until I restart the game.

And as I mentioned in my previous this also occurred on separate
occasions when assigning logos and assigning a facepack. Both
of these times the Speech Engine was NOT enabled. And in these
cases a reboot solved the problem. Possibly only a restart of the
game was needed but I "think" I tried that and only a reboot
worked to restore the sounds.

This is not a big problem as once you leave settings alone the
sound is always there and once knowing you just need to restart
to fix.

If sound device related I am using SB Audigy 2.

Yes...when i started up I did hear the sounds for my next game. But I havent downloaded any ballparks or facepacks yet. I am going to do so shortly. We'll see if the sounds continue...

Yay! You guys are awesome.

It was the options dialog, period. Basically, anytime the options dialog was opened all sound was doomed for the rest of that game session. Re-starting the game (re-boot *not* required) brings sound back.

I fixed it and the fix will be in the next patch. Thanks for helping me track that one down.

Shaun, I just tried what you said, but still no sound. Also, I have never heard the "bat crack" when clicking on menus in the title screen. (I heard it in 2005 Gold). Do you think it has to do with the mods? When I first purchased 2007, I immediately brought in all the mods from 2005, then I played my first game.

NYM, you situation is something different it appears. I think its related to VirtualPC but I need to get a copy of that installed to test it.

It absolutely has nothing to do with the mods (unless you deleted something). I assume you have tried reinstalling PS 2007 correct?

Note in PS 2005 I did not use DirectX at all, now all sound besides the anthem music is DirectX, so its either a DirectX issue or a Virtual PC issue.

I'm continuing to investigate, and I apologize for your troubles. Its the tough part about the PC game biz, so many varied configurations out there!
