sandbox mode question

When creating a league using real teams in sandbox mode, the minimum number of players needed on a team is 35. What can you do when some of the old time teams only have 25, 28 or 30 players? Is there a way to get them more players, or to lower the number of players needed? Thanks...

I set up a Sandbox assn using the 1969 AL teams. Some teams had less than 35 players and some had more than 35. Using Multiplayer, AI did not care how many each team actually had, as long as the minimum of 25 major league players was met. If there was more than 35, they were distributed further down into the minor leagues.

Sorry if it seems as if every post I'm hyping Multiplayer. I just found that it gives me the "freedom" I want to be the "commish" of the association.

In another post, you mentioned MicroLeague & LH. I've still got the both of them in boxes somewhere! My favorite was Avalon Hill's Statis-Pro Baseball. I can recall HOURS and HOURS spent in front of my C-64 entering stats from various years' Baseball Guides.

Through thousands of games, using both the board game and the C-64 version, I only had two no-hitters, both by pitchers who never threw one in real life, Paul Splittorff and Ricky Horton. Both were on the C-64. Splittorff's was a perfect game against the Yankees in an ALCS replay.

I had one 4-homer game, by Bob Horner (who also pulled it off in real life). In my game, his Braves beat the Mets. In real life, they lost to Montreal.

Hi Motnahp....Nice to see someone who remembers those Microleague and Lance Haffner Games. We are going back 20 years, but for the times, they were great games. I started with Strat-O-Matic cards from the 1962 season. Had to keep all the stats by hand though...They actually came out with a guide to look up batting averages at a glance! This Puresim7 reminds me a bit of Microleague with the ball movement...You can see by the kinds of questions and comments I post in the forums, that I am an old timer from way back...I appreciate all of your help Motnahp...

I tried using multiplayer, but when I did, and unchecked using finances, a box popped up saying multiplayers mode must use finances. Any way around this?

Not that I'm aware of. I noticed that all players are given 5-year contracts at the start under this set-up. I'm about to start the second season in this assn. When the contracts get down to 1 year remaining, I'll just go into each player card and change them back to 5 years remaining (if I haven't released them or forced them to retire by then).

Is there any way to just reset or delete the season at is completion and just start over again? Thanks...

You can delete any assn through Windows as you would any other program or folder. Just go into the psa folder and delete the file with the association name ending with the extension .psa.

If you've backed up an assn or it's been done automatically, you will also see a file with the extension .psa.backup. If you want to resume at the point of the last backup, just swap the two extensions. Make your ".psa.backup" your ".psa" and vice versa.

I hope this helps a little. If not, you may have to literally start over from New Game.

I think the minimum number of teams is 4. You can use the sandbox mode to import your teams. If you select the multiplayer option, then set all teams to human control during the association start-up, you can move the players around wherever you want them.

You can set a short season schedule and your two teams could play each other several times during the season.
