retrofitting

In the old WIR, Pz IIs in the pool would be converted to Marders IIs (or was it Marder III?). Is this feature still around? How does it work? And more importantly, shouldn't other AFVs be upgraded in this way?

The Germans at least were constantly upgrading their existing models to the lastest standard by means of changing the guns and adding appliqué armour panels (this is what a PzKpfw IIIh basically is: a PzKpfw IIIg with appliqué armour plating). It feels strange to have hundred of outdated AFVs in the pool sitting idle, they should be upgraded or converted to TDs or assault guns.

I am fairly sure that this is unchanged from the earlier versions. The system does upgrade most AFVs per a set conversion schedule, but it is slow and some things probably do not convert to anything else. However, the PzKpfw IIIs should upgrade through that series and the IVs through that type, from what I remember seeing. I have seen something in the past that showed the conversions - if I can find it, I will try to post a summary from it.
