so i'm playing a 1977 game...phils vs. cubs and cubs pitcher rick reushel is pitching a no hitter against me thru 6 innings and winning 1 - 0. Computer pulls him for a pinch hitter in the 7th. Seems like an unnecessary hook to me. Otherwise i love the game.

Yeah, I have noticed the AI using my mop-up guys or relievers assigned to blow-outs in the 8th and 9th innings even though they are assigned not too. The hooks seem totally ineffectual at present. I have seen many pitchers pitch over 110-120 pitches on the very patient hook and than with it changed to a paitient hook it goes down to anywheres from 60 too 80 too often. I have messed around with the XML hook number but the feature just doesn't sem to be working right.

My hooks are on patient and in a simmed game the computer pulled my pitcher after 8 innings with a no-hitter going. That was a little disappointing.

Unfortunately, the game recognizes the "closer" no matter what year you are playing. If your team is ahead by 1,2, or 3 runs going into the 9th, you can almost certainly kiss that starter good-bye. This results in a decreased # of shutouts and complete games for the starters.
It seems as if Shaun is doing everything he can to make all parts of the game "customize-able". Perhaps he will be able to address this in a future release.

In the olden days, there werent any closers. There were many more complete games than there are now. I would hope that there is some way to adjust this so the closers would be used the way they should be.
