Release from Shortlist??

Shaun,
Another shortlist one for you. When I go into my shortlist (only major leaguers right now[;)]) and click on a player to see his card, I have the option to release him. So, if I have Thome on my shortlist (not on my team) and I open his card, I have the ability to release him into the FA pool. Is that a bug?
