Hi,

Do you think there's a possibility of Matrix bundling COTA with HTTR at a discounted price for those of us who haven't got around to getting HTTR? That'd be some nice extra incentive for me to get HTTR as well (which I don't any *current* plans of getting). I'm not sure if Matrix has a tendency to offer bundles for its series, but it would be an attractive option. On the other hand, it's been tempting to order it from somewhere else (NWS has the attractive price of 18$ http://yhst-12000246778232.stores.yahoo ... drome.html ), but I'd rather get the digital version (which is ironically more expensive).

Also, what are the plans in terms of adding the new features from COTA to HTTR? Would it be an extra patch that you'd offer for those willing to shell out a bit of money? Something like that would be quite neat for a bundle.

I don't know about bundling yet. We have to discuss that with Matrix and get back to you.

As for patching HTTR. It's not going to happen. It would take too much of our resources to do that and they would be more profitably spent on developing new features for new games. However, we are looking into the option of including the HTTR estabs in the next West Front series title, Battles from the Bulge ( BFTB ). Along with th ability to import and convert HTTR maps. That way users can recreate the HTTR scenarios using the BFTB ScenMaker. We will not support these user scenarios, but hopefully as the series grows users can convert and maintain them. This is not definite as we need to look into the technical aspects of achieving this and that will have to wait till after COTA gets out.

I think bundling HTTR for FREE along with COTA at regular Matrixgames retail price is a good option.

It's not a good option if you want to see Panther Games producing any titles after COTA [;)]

Do you think these guys work for nothing.

The Research , Development & Programming all costs time & money and they, very reasonably, want to earn something for their time.

I assume they hope the release of COTA will entice some to get HTTR as well.

At best they could offer a small discount , but , Ford doesnt give away a free 2005 model when they produce the 2006 version do they??

Well, I bet they were tempted to do just that at some point, though. [;)] [:D]

Btw, a title that sells around 50.000 times is considered to be a hit these days (afaik), so I doubt that HttR could create much extra-cash being sold at a typical "nice price" (9 bucks)......sales figures/orders are way too low.

This is my first post and I wouldnt mind seeing a HTTR/COTA bundle. I have been holding off buying HTTR after reading about COTA.

Having HTTR at a reduced price would be great. At the moment my gaming budget is one game and that game is COTA. But I can convince myself that a bundle is one game, reduced price or not.

I wonder if there is any interest in scenarios for Lebanon and Syria?

I really don't mean to sound anything other than perplexed, but isn't HTTR only about $18 USD now? In my very small opinion, that is a bundle price. Go ahead, drop the $20 (with shipping) and when COTA is released, you have your bundle, correct? I mean $18? I bought it from http://yhst-12000246778232.stores.yahoo.net/ and I think next to Hearts of Iron Doomsday and Civil War Bull Run, it was the best twenty dollars I have spent in quite a long time. On that note, you might even be able to find it used (NWS will look for you) and purchase it even cheaper. Hope this was helpful. Cheers

Yes, of course, which is why I pointed it out on the opening post. I'd rather have the digital version, though, and Matrix' official store still sells it at the comparatively steep price of 40$ US (and 50 for the physical copy, compared to NWS' 18).

All I can say is HTTR is a great game. Bought it the instant it hit the shelves (went to 3-4 stores to find it) and it was worth every penny.

If  you dig around and are lucky enough to find a copy of HTTR at your local Gamestop, they're only getting $9.99 for it .

Okay, got it.  Sorry, I now see the point you were trying to make and the only response I can have is to ask why can NWS sell it for $18 and Matrix still sells it for the retail price of what it was upon intial release?  Sorry Llyranor, I totally missed your point.  My apologies and in regards to what you are saying, that does make sense.  To be quite honest with you, I was not aware of the Matrix selling price for HTTR.  I ignorantly assumed that it was around the same price that NWS and others sold it for, give or take $5.

I cannot see why a digital version is in any way more desirable than the boxed version unless you don't have a CD-ROM drive:

(1) After fully patching the box version does not require the CD in the drive. I think the original on the CD did require the CD in the drive to play.

(2) One of the patches for the CD version included the full manual as a PDF.

Now, the boxed version did have a printed manual, but you really needed to have sharp and youthful eyes to easily read it at the point size it was printed.

First, there are people out there without brodband internet.
And what about a nice, professionaly designed, disk label and box ?  For your collection of games, it's much better.

Is it worth $10 ?  I think so.  But others might not think the same.  Fortunately, they have the choice.

My occasional fear of digital download is regarding the safety of the game files: say goodbye if there's a HD problem. I'd only download a game if I could copy the file to CD, and even then sometimes data recorded onto burnt CDs corrupts after a year or two, particularly cheap CD-Rs.

I totally agree.  Fortunately, Matrix games have always had friendly digital downloads.  I prefer the DD's from Matrix for the opposite reason.  If you screw up a disk, you're SOL.  With Matrix, you can always go to www.findmyorder.com, enter the info, and re-download the item.  A very nice thing to have.

Any update from Matrix about a potential bundle?
