Dakota intercepted

Post by irishman »

I have a CAP over an enemy base. As a result, I get several messages stating Dakotas intercepted.
However, no air to air battle or air to air losses seem to occur. Are the transport missions abandoned? Shouldn't I be able to shoot a few down???

Check the aircraft losses under the Intelligence screen. I think you'll find that you probably have shot down some Dakotas despite the lack of A2A animation or combat reports.

This game is like congress, more goes on behind the scenes then you are allowed to know about. It's for your own protection. [:'(]

Nope, no air to air losses are posted in the intelligence screen.
However, my opponent has just informed me that these are actually mercy missions flying in supplies for starving indian orphans. Therefore, I will now allow all these flights to proceed unhindered.
Wonder what the orphans need 240mm shells for?........ [:D]

You may get a few but the msg itself is not a gurantee that you've actually shot anything down.

I always thought that if an Interception was successful you got a "Dakota crashes" Message.

I think game tells "XXXX shot down" when interception is successful...

nah, in the earlier version you get message "sakai is awarded with kill 2, 3 etc" if interception is successful and your pilot shot down few enemy transports.

Now this message is removed and you can check in intel screen or in the operational report.

I have never seen such a message and have seen a Dakota in the a2a column as lost without it.

I could have sworn that I have seen that kind of messages in 1.6....but I'm getting old and memory is going...[:D]

The messages were in 1.6 but in single player only games.  PBEM didn't have them for FOW reasons.  You had to check the intel screen to see if you were losing any in most instances.
