What's a 'squad'?

I decided for my own use that a 'squad' is 10 rifles or 1 MG or 1 ATR. A 50mm mortar is TWO 'squads'.
I did this because many German units have considerably more heavy weapons than a line infantry battalion. For example, a motorized rifle battalion has about TWICE the firepower of a leg battalion.
For heavier weapons, such as the 81/82mm mortars, I'm adding them to the "artillery" totals along with both the German and Russian infantry guns.
Does anyone else have a system for computing 'squads'?
