Some Ideas on Scenario Numbers
Posted: Tue May 23, 2000 7:07 am
As more and more of you design scenarios, there will be conflicts in numbers. By that I mean that someone will use a scenario slot (number) and so will another.
To keep both, you'll have to change the numbers in one scenario to an empty slot and load it there.
Example. I have a scen070 file. Someone designs a scenario and gives its files the same number. What do I do?
I unzip the scenarios as I download them into a temp subdirectory that I made inside of SPWAW.
Then I check to see if that slot (#70) is filled. It is, so I change the number of the second scenario files to scen071 or whatever you choose to give it.
Changing the number is simple. Go to file manager in Windows, click on a scenario file name (remember, there are three of them, *.dat, *.cmt, and *.txt).
Wait just a second and click again. Now you can change it. Change the number to the one you want.
Now hit the enter key and it is saved with the new number.
THEN move it into your scen subdirectory.
A word of caution:
Never unzip a scenario into the scenario subdirectory of SPWAW. Unzip it into a temp directory, check the numbers and then decide where you want it to go.
Hopefully, before too long, we'll have a scenario manager ready for you. Mike Deltano is working on one for us right now.
I'll keep you posted.
