Some new players have difficulties with things like the "Delay" settings, so let's compare notes on what works well with your PC configuration.

I have a Dell Dimension 2400C, with updated stock sound & video drivers and 512MB RAM. I play with fast arty OFF, but the Live Delay is set at 30. Message Delay is at 20. You get the look and sound of a massive arty bombardment without it seeming cartoonish. Two or three blasts per second.

A few guys said they have problems with the screen scrolling too fast. I set Scroll Speed at 3, which works fine for me.

You have to experiment with these settings, but taking the time to tweak a bit is worth the effort.

AI advantage is one of the most important settings. As I understand it's a percentage of AI points surplus. Maximum advantage is 200.

I have noticed that even after you start a campaign, changing your prefrences effects the next battle.

It seems to me for example that....

Lets say I assign 7200 points to my core force and either assign xxx or some number to the AI forces. The first battle and any battle after with those settings goes with this setting. However, lets say I change the settings for some other battle or campaign to 3000 for the AI, the forces available to the AI in the next campaign battle ( where I had assigned xxx for a core of 7200) will have a drasticly reduced force, based off the 3000 points.

Same for if you change the player points and leave xxx for AI, I start with 7200 but later change the player force in another game to 4000, the campaign game that had 7200 will now register as 4000 for purposes of the AI buying forces ( which changes based on the exact mission they have defend through assault).

Same with stats for units. If you like to change stats for sides remember that when you go to play a campaign game already started it will, as soon as a new battle starts, use the settings in the preferance screen NOW.

Correct me if I am wrong, or if in later versions of the game this is no longer true.
