Tank losses

Please tell me, how can I lose AFVs during assault on the enemy which does not have AT defence at all(neither tanks/ATG nor air support)? I mean when are tank losses calculated? Sometimes tank losses are pretty much HEAVY even if attacking with high odds(40+).
One more question: is it normal to attack across the river and lose all ready tanks. Last thing often happens to me even if odds are high.

The current release has a problem with tank losses, which has been fixed in the next release, this week. In it, you may lose a couple of tanks when attacking an infantry only group, which I would chalk up to breakdowns, molotov cocktails, mines, antitank rifles (which the Soviets used late into the war, if not until the end), etc, none of which are specifically mentioned in the game. It will play out much better soon.

Don't forget Ricky that Arnaud has made infantry get better as the war progresses at killing tanks. So by the time the Soviets are ready to take to the offensive in late '43 or '44, the German infantry should account for a lot of T34 losses. At least thats the theory.

I agree with that. German squads should had a high chance to take out tanks starting in july 43 until the end of the war.

Thank you Ricky and Ed. As for infantry anti-tank ability I would say that during the course of war there were no better mean to struggle with tank tnan a tank itself. Infantry could do a little with a mass tank assault even at the second part of war because tanks were greatly improved also.

I had a relative who was an officer trained by the Red Army but being Ukrainian he deserted to the Germans. He described to me once (I was about 10 yrs old) of how they used to deal with Soviet tank attacks. The soldiers would dig deep and narrow fox holes and conceal themselves, waiting for the tanks to pass over them then they would toss explosives or Molotov cocktails at the engine compartments. He won a medal for destroying two tanks in this manner. But if the tank crew spotted you they would simply drive in a tight circle around your foxhole crushing you and burying you.
