I've been pondering the last little while whether to get HTTR along with my newly-purchased COTA. I decided to wait a while.

After messing around with the two COTA tutorials, though, I was given a quick refresher course on how awesome the AA engine is. The new features are definitely great, but not deal-breakers in and of themselves. So, before I got more into COTA and spoiled myself with the new features, I've decided to get into HTTR first. I just can't see myself not supporting such a great franchise and skipping out on the HTTR scenarios, especially not when they're so rare in this industry. It's pretty late now, but I'll be purchasing it first thing tomorrow. In hindsight, I should have gotten HTTR much sooner.

Well, Panther Games can blame Matrix Games for me not getting HTTR....imagine releasing TOAW III and COTA in the same month![&o]

Welcome aboard.

Courageous decision to first play HTTR. It looks you like the engine, so you won't regret it.

The most annoying stuff : the change of the InfoBox shortcuts (F keys) from HTTR to COTA.
The thing I'd miss in HTTR : new tools (path and LOS area).

New supply change your vision of things as well.

Well, if you like PDF manuals, then make sure to patch. One of the patches included the manuals and also allowed you to play without the CD. (The original manuals required really good vision.)

There is also a Strategy Guide available for HTTR. 1/2 is game play and 1/2 is historical campaign analysis. And of course, you have two Mini-Guides sticked by yours truly.
