trying to run with the tutorial

Is there a way to run in windowed mode so I can have both the pdf and the game open at the same time? At present I get one or the other - very infuriating as you need to keep jumping back and forth so much.

Unfortunately, no. [:(]
However, alt-tab switches you quite quickly.

A button in the bottom right of the screen "Minimize" also works well. (just noticed it today, using it now)
Is there a way to disable the Splash screen when the game starts? I've disabled the intro movies by renaming them.

Splash screen ? Do you mean the Matrix Games Menu screen ?
Try the Quick Start in the menu.
Also, you can fix the game screen resolution, so that you're not asked every time. Check in the reference manual.

Got it, thanks.
I almost never use the Windows Start button anymore, mostly just desktop shortcuts.
Long time lurker, enjoying the game so far.

ironbar61,
To skip the intro movies ( Matrix, Panther and COTA Intro's ) just hit the Esc key or the Enter key on the Numeric Keypad as each intro movie satrts to play. This will terminate it. If you want to permanently disable them, just rename them or create a new directory called "Movies" ( or whatever ) and put them into it. The Game won't then find them and so they won't get played. To later enable them rename them back to their original names or if move them back into the Game directory.
