Palette problem with laptop

I have tried to run WIR 3.0 on my Dell Inspiron 4000 laptop with Window ME but there are some words I cannot read eg. the Leader name in the HQ screen. This seems to be a palette problem and so I switch my display to 256 colours before starting the game. It did not help. In addition, it also has a minor redraw problem. The game runs perfectly on my desktop with Window 98.

Has anyone experienced the same issue?

What exactly is wrong with the leader name, or other issues you have? This seems like a new one, but there is a consistent problem with Compaqs not properly displaying numbers, although not all Compaqs, they are the only one with that problem. Anyway, what is it doing, and maybe we can help. Good luck.

I'm having the same palette problem, in the scenarios, display/delay and orders/combat screens there's no contrast between the buttons - I can live with that as the text is still visable. In the HQ screen the title/attachment/aircraft/commander details are all blank (everything in yellow on a normal HQ page). The screen itself defaults to a pale khaki type colour (appropriate I guess but not the same colour as on other PC's I've used)
I'm using a Dell Inspiron 4000 as well with Windows ME (this problem is particularly frustrating as I also have a Compaq Armada which also can't run WIR due to the font problem with compaqs).
Any suggestions

steved description is exactly the kind of problems I am experiencing. Could well be a problem with the atrocious ATI M3/4 driver. Dell and ATI sould really be ashame with it.
