Is Germany able to trace a free trade path to Sweden through neutral USSR before it launches Barbarossa?

No. But if you put a transport into the Baltic Sea you can get free trade from Norway and Sweden, plus get Finlands too. You'll get 1 point each turn from Norway and Finland, and 2 points per turn from Sweden. If you want to get the 3 full points from Sweden each turn you'll have to keep the WA's from placing a transport adjacent to Scandanavia. Or you could take Norway which will then isolate Sweden inside your borders preventing that 3'rd point from going to your opponent.
Its just to bad 2by3 added a DOW fee of 5 to attack neutrals in one of the old patches. Making Norway even more unfavorable to invade. With the addition of victory cities this added DOW penalty is no longer needed and I have been pushing 2by3 to drop this fee. In any case, I have done so in Franco's Alliance.

Thanks for the info. What do you mean with "victory cities", btw?

Since the last few patches it became neccessary to secure London, or Moscow, or (Leningrad and Stalingrad) to secure an AV. It's in the readme. Before that, the Axis only needed generic locations to win by AV. Now it makes more sense because you have to take someplace important too rather than just hit 70.
I felt some places were missing in this new AV system and have in Franco's Alliance added China's capital and Eastern India as one new AV choice, and Victoria and New South Wales as the other new choice. Now when you play my mod Japan has some victory cities located in their theater also.
