Just playing with the map and scenario maker...


- Map imported from HttR made some adjustments
- created new scenario
- axis OOB, victory condition, reinforcements
- weather and other scenario required infos

worked on 2 days

Very nice.  So the game can handle all types of terrain, including polder?  Can you make up your own terrain type?  Tundra, e.g.?

Yes BUT you can only use the COTA estabs.

No, you can use also the HttR estabs... see images below.

I'm near to finish the conversion, but I think that the only problem apply to supply units (base) , don't know if they exists in HttR estabs

Great stuff laska2k4 - I didn't realise you could use the HttR estabs. I thought they'd only be useable in BftB. Great you did it though [:)]

I think Dave has some explaining to do when he gets out of bed today! :)

I was certainly convinced (by Dave) that what is illustrated here cannot be done, but then I never actually use SM and MM.

Aside from issues with bases is there missing data for the HTTR estabs? I would have assumed COTA meant more data elements added to the estab beyond what was originally there for HTTR. Of course, I wouldn't have expected any backtracking to polish off any HTTR legacy data. In particular, are HTTR estab movement and supply related data elements correct and appropriate to function with the COTA engine?

In reality, the earliest days of COTA began with the HTTR estabs/scenarios and first steps at implementing new functionality in the code base. However, I think before a year had passed the transition had already been made to the future COTA estab and some prototype scenarios.

Man, I haven't been this excited to see Dave logon for a long time! :)

Could just be that no one, not even The Great Arjuna, tried it out until you did ... Oh for a bit more of the spirit of adventure.

IIRC, yes. You cannot add another terrain, but you can substitute one of the layer for the other and change all terrains params. Rooster did it to have bocage instead of polders for his Normandy mod for HTTR. Check his blog for details. Moreover, back in the RDoA days, Golf33 managed to get us some beach.
Add to this that you can change the terrain texture at will, you'll see that the MapMaker is a very powerful tool.

well don't know RDoA beacause I own HttR and CotA

already done in this scenario, you can't import a scenario file on scen maker, so you'll have to redefine any single unit and all scenario parameters (reinforcements, victory conditions etc..)

I can't replay for sure the all is correct, but I can say that playing the scenario I didn't saw difference.

it seems that all units are resupplied correctly, twice at day I believe. Let me replay the scenario for sure.
