Can you have custom music and sound tied to scenarios, I thought I read you could but I can't seem to get it to work. Any help?

<sigh> It's one of the things I didn't do because I didn't think there would be a need for it. It's a little complicated, since the Music should override all other music, while the sound should only override the one sound file.

I'll see what I can do in a future patch.

You can put the sound in a directory with the year, and anything with that year or later will play that sound, for now, that's it.

Out of curiosity, why did you want the custom sounds?

Maybe he wanted to listen to the Apocalypse Now soundtrack, while playing his Vietnam scenarios...[;)]

Something like that. :) Mostly for music, to set up some playlists for the game. I know I could do this in about a zillion other ways outside of the game I was just curious. Making some new SFX would be fun as well, I am a "sound guy". ;)

Sound in a wargame of this level is pretty subjective, and the "event" sounds, no matter how well done, are going to get old.

Sounds tailored to a scenario could be a way to keep them from getting stale...even to the individial side, so the Japanese in Guadalcanal went "Banzai" instead of "urrah". Of course, even if a lot of effort went into this, there is a large percentage of players who will simply turn off the sound.

Ditto for music. The ability to load different music for each year is fine, but I'm sure it raises a whole host of issues that a game company would rather not deal with. I know that I do like to spin the virtual 78's while playing Silent Hunter III.

Wouldn't it be cool to have the old Soviet national anthem, Deutchland uber alles, Britains never shall be slaves, or other period music for certain campaigns?

I second this request. I was under the impression that sounds could be scenario-specific.

It would be a nice little feature, if not exactly an essential one. I must have been listening to those same tunes (in assorted games) for nearly a decade now!
