Is it possible to play this game in TCP/IP? I hate AI's for anything other than learning a game, and find PBEM too slow.

No TCP/IP sorry.
 
Maybe try playing a few PBEM games at once, so you always have a turn to do?

Once you have half a dozen PBEM games going at the same time, your girlfriend will start complaining that you spend too much time on the computer!
