Prussia 1805

I finally got around to starting a campaign as Prussia in the 1805 scenario (solo play against the AI).

Just curious, is there historical support for the Prussian Army being so small, dispursed, and withy only 1 viable Army at the start of 1805? My reading of the period shows that in 1806 the Prussian Army was quite sizeable (if lacking in quality leadership), so either they expanded it greatly 1805-1806, or else this is not accurate.

We've assembled a group of 8 human players to start playing this game TCP/IP once the latest patch comes out...I don't want to be Prussia [X(]

IIRC yes, there was some significant development within the Prussian army between 1805 and 1806.

Historically, there was no change in Prussian army organisation between 1805 and 1806 - except that infantry and hussars were augmented by one regiment each at that time.

But COW is a game, and a good one, not a historical simulation. You can always mod the Prussians and add some units, if you prefer.

No need for convincing here, that CoG is a good game...a simple historical question.

Thanks kindly for the confirmation that the initial 1805 forces for Prussia are likely a play-balance adjustment, rather than a historical reality.

It might be more accurate to say that it's some of both.  Prussia wasn't mobilized in 1805, so the initial setup reflects that.

Agreed.
