"Charge" of the Centaurs?

Beginning day 4 of this scenario. Seems that all the armor that arrives on days 2 and 3 does so in rough terrain to the east of the 1st arrival point. They've been travelling at about 2km/day since.
Was this what happened historically? Ain't much of a charge, I'll tell you that, and there's no easy path to paved roads from where you come in.

I had the same dificulty. The 131st made it to the front with about 24 hours left in the game-but their supply unit was still far to the rear. I componded the problem by not using the path tool, thus wasting even more time trying to get down the mountain. With out that division at the front there seems little chance for an Italian victory. I did restart that scenario several times and was surprised to see the actual entry points vary. In one start, no units had the north east boondocks starting point.
I have no idea what the historical starting points were, but it is clear that if the Italians started their mobile units on steep mountain tracks, it's small wonder they got creamed.

This scenario has multiple variations of at start situations and you guys got the one where the mech reinforcements comes in the rough hills. Don't worry, they get into the fray.
This scenario has been updated for a later patch though.

Call me slow but I've just got around to playing this scenario.
Well, I say 'playing' but actually my 4 hours of play this evening has been spent studying the map and giving orders to the units of my division. I never actually pressed the play button. I'll reserve that pleasure for tomorrow! [:)]
The map is amazing. The OOB shouts limition and potential. The more I've studied the situation, the more I love it!
Once again the difference between this engine and a hex based, turned based game are so readily apparent. I can't march my units 1,2,3 hexes and plant them by a river line. I can't pre-calculate the odds that I might face in the town to the north and work out who will win. I can't even assume I will get there in time.
What I can do is study the map.. get a feel for the roads, rivers and mountains. I can get to know my commanders and how well they are likely to react when the battle starts. I can try to use my 4 hours studying the map to identify funnels that the enemy are likey to use, or those I can force them into. I can set up choke points, potential counter attack area's and ambushes. In my planning I can rule the world - the reality might be slightly different though. All my best planned defenses might be made impotent if I miss a valley, miss an opportunity, miss a chance.
Any other game I could correct. In CotA I can react.. This means it's all the more important I make the right choices before I even click 'start'
There are about 30 scenario's in this game of ours. Plenty by any standards - but don't miss out on the challenge of planning, because you really only get one chance to do this blind - as really happened. It's bloody great fun! [:)]

Yes. To the Italian High Command tanks = charge; don't be sidestepped by secondary issues like terrain and roads [;)]
