PSB 2007: Run-time error '-2147024770 (8007007e)'

For some reason, whenever I click 'Play" (from the game's menu: Register, Forums, Support, etc), I'm getting the following error message for PSB 2007:

PureSim
---------------------------
Run-time error '-2147024770 (8007007e)':
Automation error
The specified module could not be found.
---------------------------
I can't even play the game anymore - the game worked fine earlier today, then it didn't work at all - I wanted to download the game again and reinstall it, but it's no longer available - I thought I saved the file to reinstall it, but for some reason, I can't find it - any help here would be great - thanks!

Hi, the only thing I can figure is that you installed/uninstalled something that corrupted a Windows DLL required by PureSim.
The best thing to try would be to reinstall the game. You can re-download your copy by going to
www.findmyorder.com.

I'm getting the same error but only when I try to set up an association using historical players. Works fine with the fictional players. Re-downloading and installing did not help. I have the latest Direct X.

Are you sure you are getting the exact same error?

Sure. From Main Menu, select PLAY.
Select New Game.
Select "Real Major League Players - Career Mode".
Start replay in 1936, solo play
Uncheck "Use finances ..."
Rate players on 1-100 scale.
CONTINUE.
Select team -- NY Yankees
NEXT
Customize schedule -- 154 games (only change on this screen)
CONTINUE.
Error message appears. Click OK. Goes back to Main Menu.
