Wacky scenarios

One thing about this engine, it is extremely flexible. Along with use of the BioEditor anyway.

I noticed a War of the Rings scenario for example. Available at Rugged Defense and created by one Rhinobones [:D]

Now obviously this won't work in TOAW III (yet), but still ... Very impressive.

There are other silly scens at the Rugged Defense site too. Have a browse around, and as long as the scen doesn't require a modified .EXE, you should be able to import it into TOAW III.

I don't think that you understand the flexibility that the scenario specific graphics and text offer.

There is nothing that I know of to stop someone from recreating that scenario using the standard units, or as close as you can get, and then renaming them and providing the new graphics.

Unless they're using units that have very screwy data, that shouldn't be too difficult.

I guarantee you that every type of unit in WotR has a customized set of characteristic values. The Unit ‘P’ tabs were extensively revised in the Bio Editor. Very screwy indeed!

I take it from your post that one is currently able to change the names of the standard units, such as change ‘SMG AT- Squad’ to ‘Jedi Knight’. Is this correct?

There doesn't seem to be a Rename Equipment function that I can see ...

I was just amazed that you could do this sort of thing at all really. More to do with modelling throwing the ring into Mount Doom and things rather than the combat side of it. The Event Editor really is what sets this game apart.

Completely agree about the importance of the editor and its contribution to the longevity of this game. Add to that the Bio Editor and the entire spectrum of warfare is open to modeling.

That was for TOAW-COW. TOAW III is expected to continue the advancement with the eventual addition of a data base editor. These are good times.

The scenario was a labor of love and I believe that it was the first scenario posted which made use of the Bio Editor to changes unit graphics, unit names and values in the unit data base. I haven’t played in a while, and don’t know if you have ever tried WotR as a PBM game, but if interested send a note and we can probable get something going.

Well .. that is an offer, thanks [:)]

I would love to but unfortunately I don't have CoW, so we'll have to wait until BioEditor or equivalent is available for TOAW III ...

Too bad. Haven't killed an Orc in months. Wonder if anyone else with COW is interested?

That's a pity. Maybe later, then.

Yes, I just stickied a thread in the Scenario Design forum. You can change names and graphics without a new executable.
