New to PSBB

I'm an old OOTP player and have decided to move over to PSBB after trying the demo. I'm not going to get into why I moved over so much as I believe you can guess (wrong direction imo)..... There is much to say in the simplicity of games, and I believe PSBB has touched on it - with a good balance. I will say that aesthetically I feel it could be better, and sure it will be. But at the core it seems to fit my needs and has all the things that focus on the GAME and having FUN. Kind of takes me back to watching the Cubies on WGN with Harry Caray [:D] I am very glad the minors are in there because I like to see players develop over the years and of course get prospects for my club. I am sure there is a possibility of a bust even though their potiental is good, correct?

Welcome aboard.... I just made the switch myself. I still plan on keeping my 6.5 solo leagues going but plan on using both PS and OOTP 6.5. I am looking at creating more mods so that this game can be up to the OOTP 6.5 level and better.... hopefully...

Again I welcome another former OOTP player - I am just waiting now for the special on friday where the game price drops to $14.95 for the download version........[:)]

I also found the game entertaining in its simplicity and ease of use. I did not need a manual and could just jump from the various screens with no problems....... the only downside is the number of mods for the game and the overall sim speed is a bit slower than OOTP - but the weekly PSPN magazine and the in game play with the flight of the ball and such is better than the options in OOTP. This game rocks.....

Same Here [:)]

I really like the Almanac and the weekly PSPN magazine are great features and I am really enjoying them. I also like making custom skins/screens like the one I started below.... once I have more time with the game I may do more work..... Good to see a fellow OOTP player new to PSBB here and good luck, here is to opening day tomorrow [;)]

Welcome aboard to all the new folks. As a long time PS player, it is thrilling to see the new blood playing this great game. I know this community seems small to those of you coming over from OOTP, but it has been fun to watch this baby grow.

Another convert here. I found some fictional logos, some cool stadiums and whipped up a league in no time. My Tucson Drifters are currently 3-8, in last place, and I'm loving it!

I would also like to welcome the new influx of players to the PureSim community and a great baseball sim. One of the biggest things we Have needed was a more dedicted core of players and those who will work hard to create mods and extras for this great game. I have played both PureSim and OOTP since the first versions! I still play in an OOTP6.5 online league and very much enjoy the online league experience. But for my personal projects, real historical play and my fictional league I have gone with PureSim.

The new version of OOTP was exactly what PS needed to get that new group of players trying PureSim, and enjoying it. A sports sim, any type of computer game should be FUN and easy to play! if it is more like work I already have that 12 hours a day as a high school teacher. So for me, the key factor is the "fun and ease of use" factor. I want to relax, have some fun and enjoy my projects and leagues! not oversee the entire world and have more work to do at every turn.

Welcome guys! We appreciate all you can bring to this community and to this game. I assure you, Shaun is a great guy to work with and he is very responsive! Matrix did not take over this game.....they have helped this game and supported this game, the community and Shaun.

Yeah, the problem with mods is that 99% of the mods for games are created by about .1% of the users of the game. We've had a couple of modders, I even tried my hand at it once with the stadiums, but the more people PS can pull in, the more chance that some of that small percentage will pick it up and start working on the game. I'd love to really get into modding, but I just don't have the time to commit to doing it. Well, not if I want to play anyway.

BTW - PanzersEast, I love that screen, it's very nice. One thing I've wondered is if it's possible to mod the look of the "Modify lineups and rotation" screen. That one is still kind of stuck in the Puresim 2004 look. It's about the only screen that really hasn't gotten a makeover yet.

LOL... over the past 2 months, I've spent more time creating my website, creating ballparks, creating association templates, and creating logos than I have actually playing the game. Need to stop that for a bit and just play the damn thing!!

Thanks for all the hard work on your site Al. I'm pretty new to Puresim and your site gave me lots of mods for my fictional league.

Yeah, I really like that one, too, PanzersEast.  If you could come up with one that uses 1950s player images, that would be great.

No prob.... I will need to find out where to change the font colors as the aqua does not look good against the white, or I could add some boxes behind the text.

Yeah, man. Very nice.

Orioles from sometime in the 90s?   You got Brady Anderson, Rafael Palmiero, B.J. Surhoff, Roberto Alomar and Mike Bordick in there.

Wild guess. I don't follow the AL.

Here is something I fixed up real quick, however it needs a lot of work....
