Over 3000 aircrew were posted to the Squadron and of these, 990 were killed in action, a great number were wounded, and 220 were taken prisoner after being shot down, or were interned after being forced to crash-land their damaged aircraft in neutral territory.

Hi Hard Sarge,
I am spending a lot of time at the RAF museum at Hendon at the moment on some private research for the TV stuff I do as a day job. If you have any questions I can pass them off to the lovely people there. A lot of them are ex services and quite a few BOB pilots and other sevicemen are still involved. They were very interested in the game when I was explaining it.
PM me if it is of help.
I live 2 miles away from the place - it's free entry and is almost a second home
will post some pics of the place soon - if ok

I was at the Australian War Memorial late last year, and had time to look at the honour rolls. The RAAF BC squadrons naturally had the longest rolls, usually 2 -3 vertical feet of 2 column of names. The RAAF Fighter squadrons had maybe 6 - 12 inches.
No. 460 Squadrons Roll covers one and a bit panels - probably 8 vertical feet of closely spaced names...
