Fantastic game, however

I'm enjoying the game so far.
However, I don't understand what is going on as far as performance. I have close to a monster gaming rig (3.4 ghz P4, 7900GT), yet the ai/turn calculation time takes on average 10-20 seconds all the way up to full minutes. What is going on here? How can AI turn phases in this sort of processor environment take so ridiculously long?
Also, the framerate is absurdly low. I get, on average, around 10-20 fps at all times in the game. Sometimes (usually during the scenario setup phase) I'll get a good steady 40-60. After that, the framerate is absolutely terrible. It even effects the mouse cursor responsiveness.
My system is meticulously configured. I've played almost every recent release on this system (Battlefield 2, HOMM5, Rome: Total War, Civ4, Halflife 2, Blitzkrieg 2, Oblivion, Rise of Legends, Hitman Blood Money, Spellforce 2, All 3 Combat Missions, etc etc) and they all run fantastic in the configuration I'm trying to run Panzer Command in (1024x768, 2xAF No AA). I get around 90 fps on average in all of these games at that resolution/AA/AF setting.
I have the latest drivers for all my hardware.
What is going on here?

It seems like this game is using A LOT of system memory .... maybe this is the reason
After I close the game my system is really slow , I dont have high end computer (amd xp2500 , 8600le , 1gb memory) for me this game is unplayable right now.

Flyinj,
What game settings are you using to give you 10-20fps performance - could you take a screenshot of the configuration launcher and the options screen? I see fps that is closer to 30fps on my AMD 3000+ with a GeForce 6800 and in general the 10-20fps range is generally where we see older systems rather than newer ones. There are enough different settings that I would be surprised if we couldn't find a combination that gets you much better performance.
Also, taking 10-20 seconds to calculate sounds fine for your system, but full minutes sounds out of whack. If you can post a save file of a turn that takes minutes to process, we can take a look at what's going on.
Suomikp,
One thing Panzer Command does when it exits is return mouse control to you while it finishes unloading. However, if it takes a while to unload in your case then this can really slow things down for up 30 seconds or so.
In general, you want to tweak the settings to get yourself over 15fps as a normal setting in order to avoid any mouse lag.
Regards,
- Erik

Odd
during beta, running the game on full, I was running most times in the 60 FPS range
really, really had to be cluttered to get it to drop down into the 20's and then it was only for a flicker
not sure what is going on with your system

I'm having the same issue. I have 2 gigs of RAM, a 9800Pro ATI card, and 2.8ghz comp. Really slow AI resolution phases are the norm.

I am running a dual 3.8 Gig Laptop with 4 gig ram and a 125 gig Raid drive, Graphic card is a NVIDIA GeForce 6800 Ultra. Running game in 1600 wide screen ressolution. I get about 5 second for the AI to think on average, not really a big deal. Of course My Alienware Laptop cost me 5000 bucks 6 month ago.

Pentium-4s (Netburst architecture) are generally not as good as AMDs, Pentium-Ms/Yonah or the new Conroes for things written in virtual machine like Java and .net.
We should probably put up a real benchmark that we can run to compare.

No FPS issues here, AI take a bit, 5-10 secs, then turn simulation take a 5-10 secs. Running a AMD 3200+, GeForce FX 5900, 1Gig (2x512 in dual channel) Corsair XMS memory, 2.0CL

With my 1.83 GHz Dual Core Mac Intel with 2 Gb memory running Win XP Pro, Calculation times are always less than 10 seconds for the first campaign scenario.

Well I overclocked my 2500x to 3200+ and now it works really well using 1280x1024 , bit depth 32 , texture quality high , level of detail quality very high , antialiasing 2

What do you mean by "glitchy" terrain? do you have a screenshot?

Yeah I suddenly has big white traingles covering the left and right sides on my maps.
Turned down to 16 bit and reduced another setting (my card can't handle anti-aliasing in this game) and seems to have worked.

If either of you could post screenshots, that really doesn't sound like something we've seen before.

Also both of you should make 100% sure to run latest graphic card drivers and sound card / chip drivers.
Oh, and please post as a new thread in the support forum, that makes our live easier, thanks.

I agree the game rocks. It's the wargame I've been looking for; but how does one check the fps? I'd be curious since on my machine ( P4 3ghz 1.25GB of RAM with just a Nvidia Geforce3 Ti-200) I get 20-30fps on IL2/Pacific Fighters with the graphics cranked all the way up.
