RDOA - take a bow!

Since yesterday, I have been playing RDOA (Red Devils Over Arnhem) - Panther's first game released with this engine by Battlefront in 2001. I have to say, what a great game! I mean I am having a lot of fun and the action is really intense.

I guess besides being a former flight simmer and a current wargamer, you might call me a retrogamer. Retrogamer since I still enjoy playing such classics as: SMG (Sid Meier's Gettysburg), SMA (Sid Meier's Antietam), WNLB (Waterloo - Napoleon's Last Battle), ANGV (Austerlitz - Napoleon's Greatest Victory), AOD (Aces of the Deep), Silent Hunter (the first of the series of that name), ...

However, when you play the games which I just listed above, you can clearly see the difference between an SMG and a TC2M or AOD and SH3. But in regards to RDOA, if the game was to be released today ... the graphics, interface, game play, and concept would still be cutting edge and without a rival in today's market. It is only the evolution which has led to HTTR and COTA that makes RDOA look out of date in comparison. Otherwise, RDOA would be the same revolutionary gem in 2006 that it was in 2001.

Dave, Paul, Steve, and Steve take a bow! What you achieved with RDOA may one day be considered a gaming classic, but five years later it is still too fresh and inspired to be so categorized.

... yeh, I know I am a beta tester ... but that doesn't mean that I don't have eyes and cannot recognize true genious when I see it.

Mark,

You just ruined my day, thanks.
It happens that I don't know where my beloved RDoA disc is. [:(]

Maybe I have to cleanup the mess I call a desk and look it up seriously.
