I'm talking about direct download of the game.

It may be a little scary to some of you, but this is the sixth game that I've purchased from Matrix via digital river. Honestly, it is truly a dream, IF you have a high-speed connection.

This is a marvelous software distribution feature for gamers.

It's the only way I want to buy software now. You can usually get another copy if for some reason your computer crashes; you get it the instant the game is released; it helps the companies selling because they get "impulse" buyers (which in the long run helps those of us who appreciate their work). It also may allow smaller companies, who love the topic they are copying (i.e. they're as nuts about this stuff as us) to compete with the big boys who are out to make fun games albeit with less realism (i.e. think healthpoints for your tank).

If you're one the fence about this, take the advice of Prince and take the plunge. You got used to the VCR didn't you?

Bought my copy via direct download, best way I have ever purchased a game, had it in less time than it would take me to drive to the store to buy it. That and I know I could never find a copy here..

Thanks

Download is the future for these type of games. Most stores now have almost no shelfspace dedicated to PC games anymore.

But, Dont forget to save the downloaded install and a copy of the registration number to a CD, in case you pc Hard Drive goes belly up.

I tend to buy the DD and the CD as well, just so I have another cool Matrix item on my 'shelf 'o' games.'

That is just what I did, and created my own "cool" Matrix product.

I own 6 matrix games. This is the first digital download one I purchased. Took about 45 minutes with my service. It was a piece of cake. Same as booking a flight online or anything else for that matter. I simply copied the file to a CD for back up.

I downmloaded 3 Matrix games in the past few weeks. The first two downloaded really slow at about 20K/sec, but Panzer Commander loaded faster at about 80K/sec. I had no problems installing any of the games.

I take no chances and burn the install program to a CD so I can easily reinstall in case I have to.And I write the serial number of the CD so I can find it...[:D]
