New Scenario! 503 Schwere Abteilung

That's right Tigers!
This is my first scenario modeling the 1st Kompanie of the 503 Schwere Abteilung in January 1943 just after they were made operational and rushed to the area southeast of Rostov. The entire kompanie is modeled with some supporting arty.
The 503 is entering a village to stem the Soviet tide, and they run into a Heavy rgt of KV1's and a Medium tank Btn of t-34's.....
Give it a ride and let me know what you think. Always open to good critique.
NOTE: I did not include a write up of the scenario as I'd have to edit the main english text file. Matrix/Koios take a note this will be a future problem as I would not want to overwrite someones english file.

Could you put it in a zip file? I'm not quite sure what to do with the window that opens.

Not a problem.
Just unzip file into your scenario directory.

Thanks for making the first scenario.
Unfortunately it was just too much for my computer. Very slow mouse (nothing new), around one minute each for AI calc and Simulate. I played two turns as Soviets. Took out a Tiger in a shootout. Turn three it CTD.

That's been my concern... I actually cut back the number of units. What's your system specs?

Doesn't look like there's anything there in your system to slow things down.
I just played three turns on my sons machine:
1.2 ghz AMD 2200+
Nvida 5700 Ultra 128 mb
1 gig of memory
AI planing took 1 minute and Simulating Turn took 3.5 minutes... much too slow imho..... but no CTD.
Matrix/Koios...any ideas?

Runs fine here:

Radeon x800xt 256mb
WinXP SP2
Game settings are maxed out except for infantry.

POE,
Your rig is close to mine, and I have no issues either. It would seem to me that the issue is CPU.... my sons machine has the same amount (different type) of memory as mine.
If we're going to be able to play company/battalion sized engagements CPU will be an issue.

Nice work, Der Oberst, loads up fine here. I'll give it a test drive this week.

I gave this scenario a spin last night to see how it would run on my machine, P dualcore 2.8, 1066FSB, 1gig ddr 5900, FX6600. Played a couple turns and it was fun, I saw AI plannin take about 25+/- seconds and simlutaion take about 40+ secs. Not at all unbearable, but it seems like the algorythms could use some help, whatever is being calculated. Nice map.
Eric, is there any discussion on optimising the code? These calculations are taking an inordinate ammount of CPU time.

Der Oberst, this problem has been addressed in my scenario importer which is part of the editing suite
