To Buy?

What makes this game better than/different than CM? Is it worth forking out the cash?
Fine, the "game system" is different. That doesn't necessarily make it better...especially with the moddability of CM...
So what are the arguments FOR getting this game if one already has CM?
(Trying to decide whether to buy)

It's virtually impossible to answer that without going into "CM versus PzC" mode, which everyone has been at some pains to avoid as it can never be anything but almost totally subjective.. not just between what does what "best" or is most "fun", but how relatively important each individual factor is. No, "different" does not necessarily imply "better" (or indeed worse), but does it have to be? With that logic you would only ever play one game.
All I can suggest is that you read the postings here and at Battlefront, the AARs, look at the screenies and movie (hopefully there might be a demo soon?) and decide if you think PC might be a worthwhile use of time that would otherwise have been spent playing CM, or indeed anything else.

OK I'll byte. Graphics for one. CM is pretty dated in the graphics department. Objects in PC are finely detailed and higher resoluted.
Another, PC seems more challenging. The AI and positioning in PC is harder to beat. CM was somewhat a pushover in comparison.

I would just say they are different. I wouldn't say one is better than the other. CM is perhaps more 'detailed'. PC is perhaps a bitter broader in scope. I think for the most part if you like one you'll like the other unless you are a real Grognard.

guymaru,
Our opinion is that there's room for both. Panzer Command plays differently and the campaign system adds an additional level of involvement with your troops. It's also the start of a new series, so your initial purchase will be well supported and expanded. As far as the nitty gritty, we do have a few helpful features such as a minimap, force display and rules-based combat rather than physics-based, which some folks prefer simply because it's easier to predict and understand.
Panzer Command is not more realistic than CM or wider in scope, but it's at least as fun and according to some players more so for the campaign it covers.

- Erik
