very, very, very farfetched idea.

That thought happens to me periodically since I got my first 286 AT.
I call it Wargame Lego System. (WLS)
The idea is to connect different wargames, so they can create missions one for the other.
At the moment in my machine are installed:\
Panzer general
SPWAW
European Air War (microprose flight sim)
...others
Lets take PG as a basic "board". I believe everybody is aware of PG here.
You could be playing PG as usuall, but every single movement could be played in lesser scale in SPWAW as generated mission with basic OOBs terrrain and conditions set.
I thing the motivation in missios would get skyhigh, if you know exactly why you need to knock out those bunkers ahead ... you would remember general "strategic" situation of your units from PG game.
Of course not every move of PG would have to be replayed in SPWAW, just players choice.
Now lets say in PG enemy would send his Bf-109f JG to intercept my bombers, but they have fighter escort. So I could jump into my EAW cockpit and try to defend my bombers personaly. I bet under such motivation for the mission I would more likely stick to defending bombers, than trailing away shooting down fighters.
Or I could personaly run the airstrikes ordered in SPWAW in my EAW plane. Ok, this one is tougher one, because quick mission setting in EAW wouldn't be enough to caricature all elements of SPWAW battlefield correctly....
Or other players may "plug in" their Silent Hunter or even some Jagged Alliance derived Sqad level combat engine, or even Rainbow-six derived first person engine.
Depending on plug-ins existing player would have a choice of auto resolve or manual combat.
Ok, ok I know I am daydreaming, also it's probably next to imposible to adapt existing games, but existing engines could be utilized and mission generator substituted by some bigger scale wargame.
