Pardon if this has been asked before

Does this board game play well solitaire?

Also does it have a large VASSAL community?

Looks like great fun but my opponents are limited to about.... NIL

heh

Yes, it play pretty well in solitaire.

The Vassal community, on the other side, is relatively small

But on the other hand - those of us who do play on Vassal welcome new players and will readily give you a game.

It plays well solitaire, due to the use of 'Event markers'. Many scenarios include these to reveal unknown events during the course of play. This keeps things lively when you're playing solo. Also doesn't include any mechanics that would be problematic for solo play, like hidden units.

One of the neatest moments I had playing solo was in the Forgotten Heroes module when I was playing the "Serious Firepower" scenario. I activated an event module, and BOOM... a VC guerilla with an RPG took out my prized Patton tank with a rear shot. That'll teach me to send my tanks near unknown woods.
