Soviet Quantity

We all know that during the conflict on the eastern front the Red Army was quite reckless in its use of its own troops on the battle field. Both officers and NCO's were inexperienced (at the beginning of the war) and hundreds of thousands of men died just because of inept Soviet leadership. Still, the Red Army could muster millions of new and fresh recruits to fill the huge holes of lost men, and Soviet factories managed to increase its production and thousands of tanks and artillery pieces were sent to the front. These factors is what really made the Germans lose the war on the eastern front (I believe ;) ).

Now, is this noticable in the game? Let's say the German player annihilates an entire Soviet Front, will then the "Bolshevist-player" be able to field new strong armies as the Red Army historically did? My point is, Soviet commanders didn't really have to bother how many soldiers died on the field because there were always new ones to call upon. Is this modelled into the game engine?

I know this is just another of my enormously stupid questions, but I'm really curious about this.

It is. I believe the formulas are in the manual somewhere. Anyway, the USSR produces more squads per turn than Axis. Also, the mongolians arriving in December (?) 1941, usually are quite welcome...

Well, I'm in the beginning of 1942 and I for one didn't receive any "mongols" in December 1941, although I got lots of reinforcements in October-November. I guess I'll have to bleed for another year, but afterwards, in late 1943, I'll begin kicking some "Bubi"-ass! :D

The advantage in manpower is evident for the entire game. Soviet replacements are based on the populations in the cities controlled multiplied with a replacement "multiplier". In '41 the multiplier is 8 for the Soviets so there is a massive amount of replacements coming in to allow the Soviet player to reconstitute units destroyed in the initial blitzkreig. However, the multiplier falls to 4 in '42, '43, and '44 and then to 3 in '45, so the advantage would have gone away had the war lasted longer.
