Hi all,

so i finally managed to arrange a new game.
We decided to chose the scen 158 (the one with The soviet Navy active and some of the Nik's A2A changements).

It's the first time i play CHS, and at first sight it's a mess![X(]
Too many things changed not to be scared about it.
China, which was one of my favourite theatre, is completely changed and i'm really doubtfull regarding where to move and where to fight.

Anyway, i'm trilled about this new match...

these are the main house rules.

Only 1 port attack on turn 1
Allied planes cannot be moved on turn one
No new allied TF on turn 1
no sub invasion or non-dot landing
Russia must be activated at least 1 month earlier than the day of the real attack.
Manchukoku garrison cannot be moved without changing the HQ
Same for Chinese units attached to China HQ
Russian navy can only be used to resupply the russian industry(untill russia is activated)
No allied navy in Russian waters allowed untill russia is activated
no 4Es from AF <5
Night bombings allowed only for 2E bombers and with "moderation"

well...some more rules...that i do not remember[:)]

Tonight or maybe tomorrow the start.

Have fun.

CHS intends China to be a somewhat difficult theater of war, not only for the Japanese. I think treespider (who is responsible for the new OOBs in China?) is pleased that you are unsure if you can conquer large parts of it in CHS. You should try to prove him wrong... [;)]

Gen. Hoepner, I remember your old AAR from the time when I was still lurking here. Too bad it ended, it was most excellent!! [:)] I'm looking forward reading this one.

Not quite. CHS only intends to provide players with as historically accurate a depiction of the forces available on Dec 7/8, 1941. Perhaps, as a byproduct of that depiction, things may be more difficult, however that was not the intent. The stock depiction of China was a farcry from what was actually occuring on the ground on Dec 7/8.

Oh, ok, now i got it.[:)]
However, China was very equilibrate in the vanilla version IMHO. If both players knew the rules of the ground combat system, it was not easy for japanese nor for allies to conquer a decisive victory.
In the new CHS i really do not know. I will need to test in on my own skin[:)]....but i'm sure it will be a real fun!

Beren should send me the first turn tonight....

stay tuned

Well, i was looking around, waiting for the first turn to come, and saw a great thing!
Finally the Vladisvostok CD guns were adjusted! Now it won't be so damn easy to knock down Vladivostok just using a pair of BBs!![8D]

I'm trying to understand a bit more the chinese mess....it's really a pain!!

The most voulnerable areas seem to me:

Changsha (as always)
Wuchow
Honan
Yenan

The rest are pretty the same of the old version i was used to.
But now Ichan is in Japs' hands, so i'll have to be really carefull about the center of China, even if everybody knows that the supply situation and Ichan has always been terrible, no matter on which side you're playin'.

My plan here for the moment is quite simple:use the guerrilla forces to create him problems in his supply lines in the back, while massing my normal units and organize a stiff elastic defence. In China movement is more important than fortifications!!

But i still need time to understand this theatre and to elaborate a good plan for it....

Ok, the first jap move has arrived.
I limited myself giving only orders to the chinese ground troops and the already exsistent TFs. Everything else is left as it was tryin to simulate at best the surprise of dec.7th...

Let's see....[;)]

After the announce of AB about the problems related with this scenario, i doubled checked and found that Beren set up the game under CHS 2.1:-((( I asked him a restart cause this version is really full of problems...:-(

I stand corrected. Good work on China, BTW.

You can split the Guerilla Corps and have three times the fun on the Japanese supply lines.

I made some maps with the Chinese OOB in my PBEM thread, maybe you will find them helpful. Or you can read this thread about China in CHS (which I just found today. Would have saved myself a lot of work if I had used the "search" button earlier...):

tm.asp?m=931389&mpage=1

And don't keep Beren too occupied with this PBEM, he still has to draw lots of planesides! [:-]

I did not have much time in these days to update this aar.

Ok, the war has sprung.
Usual moves from Beren:
PH attack, landings in Luzon (north east and Legaspi), northern coast of Borneo (Brunei, Miri, Kuching), Kuantan and Singora in Malaya, Tarawa, Wake, Ambonia.
The S.S.D. is strangely used at Legaspi, instead of Rabaul-Kavieng area...[&:]

It's now the 10 dec and i've lost most of the transport fleet that starts in the PI. He's using subs in a very aggressive way (15 ships sunk only by submarines), in coordinated attacks along with his baby-kb and some surface TFs. Nearly 60 allied ships are gone in 3 days[:(]. i've only managed to sink 2 subs and to damage some 5 transports...nothing that can slow him down.

At PH he managed to damage all of my BBs....sinking none of them but 5 of them are over 80 sys damage.

I managed to evacuate some 7 Ducth base forces, that are now heading for Karachi or Perth. The USAFE air force has been moved to china or to Oz, while the Dutch aviation is still trying to defend Java's waters.

Z force is intact and ready to operate near Java, while Singapore defensive ring is being built in the Triangle Singa-Mersing-Khota Baru.

In China is a mess.....still trying to understand wht to do. HK is being sieged...soon it will fall.

will try to update better and with some detailed maps soon...
