Hi all,

John Watson has put together a very nice trailer for COTA. CHeck it out at the downloads page on the official COTA website:

Under Windows Media Player it plays music only - no trailer.
 
 

I've downloaded it and it plays well for me with sounds and images in WM 10.

Wow, it's really well done and certainly entices you to buy and play it.

It is very cool. I like the music. A bit sinthy, but very good.
Historical photographs effects is terrific.
A small regret : game extracts a bit too short. But I'm a fan you know. [;)]

I started by putting the text in - and used that as a kind of marker to make sure I showed the parts I had planned to, within the time available. Then I added the pics and game shots.

I agree that more in game extracts would have been nice. I definitely over estimated how much I could get in. In the end I had to speed up movie shots by up to 300% as I just wasn't fast enough with the mouse and kept trying to rush and ended up clicking the wrong buttons in panic [:D]

The general idea though was to give a bit of historical background, hopefully to get people 'in the mood' for the scenario's and then show how nice the maps look, how good the E&S info is and how easy it is to order units, detach them, get LOS info, etc.

If anyone watches it and it sways them to buy the game (c00k1e, maybe? [:)]) then I will be thrilled, and it will have been worth doing [:)]

Great movie!!  A couple of suggestions though.  It's hard as hell for non-wargamers to watch a trailer like this and get an understanding of whats going on.  Nothing really appears to be happening in the screenshots-it's the same for all turnbased games.  So what I would suggest is to take a bunch of screenshots of units advancing on an objective or across a front and then play all the shots like a movie-so the viewer can see 10 minutes of gametime in just a few seconds and they can get a good idea of what exactly is going on.

An other suggestion I have is regarding the quotation reccomendations.  Those are some impressive quotations but if I can't see who said it then it doesn't do much for me-or any other viewer for that matter.  What I mean is, if I can tell that whoever said these things is from some kind of reviewing magazine or website or something and not Arjuna then I'll be a lot more impressed

Let me add a little bit of a (maybe overcautious) advice: European consumers laws might actually require you to give the exact source (e.g. title of the magazine and issue/year) of any quote you use in advertising a product and might regard the lack of this information as misleading advertisement.
