Save game crash

I'm just getting started on my first PBEM game and had a few problems on my first turn. I saved the turn twice while playing and both times the game crashed (save files were fine). Also when my turn were done and I chose to end it the game crashed again (I hope the saved PBEM-file is not corrupt).
When playing single player I have had problems with the game freezing when saving game (most often when doing "save & quit" it seems). Not sure if it is related.
I have the latest patch installed.

What do you mean by the game "crashing"? It is supposed to exit to the desktop after saving a PBEM file. This is working as designed and resolves a problem in Century of Warfare that allowed some pretty serious cheating.

Oh. Oops. [8|]
Yes, it returns to the desktop. It does so without any warning, so I was certain it was a crash.
But the freezes when quitting a regular game (only when saving at same time?) at least do not seem like a feature since I have to attempt to kill the process a few times before the window finally disappears.

How long did you wait before you decided it was "froze"? Sometimes the program is trying to write the "movies" bmp files and if they are large it'll appear that the game is froze. My FitE game takes almost a full minute to write the "movies" files but after they are written the game goes away and I'm at the desktop just like it's supposed to be.

I have this problem quite often. It might be related to sound effects.
