Aircraft Weapon Allocation?

Aircraft Weapon Allocation?

I have the game options set to weapons tight, Staff option does not handel weapon allocation.

Issue: I am attacking an airfield with 2 aircraft with 1000Lbs bombs, I don't get the weapon allocation weapon window with the aircraft when they reach release point, or a yellow star showing any hits or any message of the attack, all I get is a message "aircrat out of relevant ammo, ordered to land", huh? I checked the report on aircraft and they no longer have any 1000lbs bombs.

1. Why am I not getting a weapon allocation window when the aircraft reach release point?

2. Why am I not getting any messages of the attack?

3. What am I doing wrong?

In Harpoon II I use to get a weapon allocation window to manually select the weapons to release, and could also attack targets with the aircraft cannons.

Hate to answer a question with more questions, but can you provide additional details?

What scenario are you trying?

Are your aircraft on Plotted/Manual control? Or have you created an Air Strike mission for them?

You might not get the yellow star if the bombs missed the target, too. [;)]

Also, there was a report

Weapons tight - bug?

Planes were on Weapons Tight and they still fired. You may be encountering this same situation.

Depending on the Database you are using, guns may not be allowed to strafe.

DataBase: Standard
Scen: Malvinas: part II
Pref: All staff options off
Opt: A4Log.opt, ExtraVerbosePointDef.opt, showPointDef.opt
Videos: Off

Weapons tight:
Two Brit Harriers lanunched, no mission, manually directed to target, airfield.
Aircraft reach release point (using range circle), no weapon allocation window. All I get is a message "aircrat out of relevant ammo, ordered to land"

Harpoon II also never had an automatic weapons allocation window popup function when your aircraft were in range of a target. If they are on a plotted mission with weaspons tight set they should not fire at all. If they are on a mission they should fire automatically even without your knowledge. However, the most likely cause for the behaviour you are observing is that you put the aircraft on a requested-intercept mission which they executed.

As Herman mentioned the yellow hit star will only be displayed if your weapons hit their target.

Cheers,
JP

I don't know what to tell you. I just ran the exact same scenario and it doesn't have a problem with me. I set everything to the defaults you describe except that the Harrier do not carry Mk83 1000lb bombs. They carry the British equivalent, 454kg bombs.

When I got near the base, my bombs did not automatically drop from the planes.

When I manually ordered an attack, this is my Weapons Allocation window.

Do you have a saved game that you could post up?

Yeah JP's right on.

Looks like they executed your mission (the attack) then RTB's. Probably missed which is why you had no indications of a hit. Sorry but Iron bombs aren't always so accurate.

Like Herman mentioned you'll get the popup dialogs if your plotted and use the attack button. The flight parameters your aircraft is in at the time will dictate if and what your allocation window looks like.

Don't worry you'll get the hang of all this soon enough[:)]
