Units Disapear?

DataBase: Standard
Scen: Malvinas: part II
Pref: All staff options off
Opt: A4Log.opt, ExtraVerbosePointDef.opt, showPointDef.opt
Videos: Off
Weapons tight:

Issue I keep having units dispear, sometimes they reapear?

Playing Brittish I launch a couple of Harrier aircraft and manually direct them to the reported enemy aircraft, I am play at 15 sec, then 5 scen, then 1 sec game time and manually redrecting them as needed. I am playing really zoom it when my aircraft attack. Sometime they fail to responed, and I get the message "you can't direct aircraft in group". I'm directing the group of two aircraft. Sometimes the aircraft disapear, then sometime later they will reapear, other times not. The british sub will also disapear. Its early in the scenario I gave each group and the sub a movement order, I have 1 helo on AEW. the only thing going on is the 1 or 2 aircraft I am manually directing.

The aircraft it seems reapear after I launch a new aircraft. I wonder if it's tied to the videos, even though I have the videos turned off, I have no idea what happend to the sub, it wasn't near any enemy units. It was traveling at 8 knots deep.

I seem to remember big delays in Harpoon II (back in the days of the intel 486) while the videos started and stopped!

Without seeing your game file and only judging from the description you are providing here, I strongly suspect that you are playing with the "Full Realism" option activated.

I infer this because:

1) Your sub appears to disappear and re-appear. The Full Realism option means that once your sub dives, it is out of contact with you and will not return top your control until it surfaces again.

2) I surmise the same thing with you Harrier behaviour. When your Harriers fly out of radio range of the carrier (over the horizon), their communications equipment may be limited to Line-of-Sight. If they are over the horizon, their radio signals cannot reach you.

When you launch additional aircraft, they may provide a link to the 'lost' Harriers since they appear at 2010m. From that altitude, they may be able to re-establish contact with your lost flight.

I have no experience with the message: "you can't direct aircraft in group"

Nor do I have any problems with the Videos (since I always turn them off.) [;)]

If you like, why not post your saved game to either of these sites and we can get to the bottom of your quandry much more quickly?

Your right, I set datalinks to always on, and my problems when away, the game plays now just like Harpoon2. I'll have to read more about the diffcultly settings.

Suggest autodatalink if you're into suggestions. Gives you enough ambiguity but you're within full communications with all your units as long as you have datalinks (subs too).

Hi ALL

Just my two cents. I think you are right on. In H2, you could use the formation editor with planes groups, not in H3, and will see the message if you try.
