Who watches animations?

I have just started playing WPO and have found the animations interesting (if not somewhat suspenseful). As of right now they are still "fun" to watch. My questions is do most people still watch the animations of the battles or do you typically just proceed to the results. Is there value in watching the animations (i.e. get a decent determination for what ships took what type of damage) or is this information more easily determined through the menus at the end of the turn. Just looking to get some opinions....

Once feature I would like to see added would be to have the ability to maintain the icon that appears in the hex when an encounter occurs at the end of the turn. That way you could easily determine where the sightings were. Along the same lines a little lightning bolt would be nice to show Sigintel locations during that turn. Or perhaps the map just becomes ingrained in you mind where these little things become second nature.

Have a good day.

I simply like the animations and they have always been one of the biggest reasons I like this type of games(Caw1&2, CS, Pacwar, PTO2, UV, WITP, WPO, etc). Without the anims playing the game would feel like reading an excel-sheet.

Not sure how useful it is but atleast you get to know how efficient the different guntypes&calibers are in the game. Instead of memorizing them all and comparing to armor values all you have to do is watch how they perform in combat.

Animations are priceless. You need to know what does '3 hits' mean - was it a 3" scratch or a 16" magazine explosion?

Especially in ASW.

P.S. And they are so cool!

P.P.S. One day I was really frustrated with my dreadnought performance. Only by watching animations did I learn that BB California had to hold off 8 IJN capital ships on its own for 5 game rounds until other ships finally maneuvered to fire!

I enjoy them sometimes, but I am usually in too much of a hurry to get on with the war before my wife catches me on the computer. The funny thing is, I think she would resent porn less! I think it is the fact that WPO and WitP steal my life. I haven't got the heart to tell her that Matrix are reworking Battle of Britain and Bombing the Reich...

Because porn is something that she *can* compete with...
