Is there anyone who cannot use Deep Color (Screenies!)

Reason I ask is because with the 1.3 patch I am redoing all the stock ship graphics with higher quality photoshoped ones that look much better, but on the moving water animations it causes some graphical artifacts when not run in deep color mode.

Reason I ask is because if too many can't then I'll make the low quality originals the default and include the higher quality newer ones as an alternate, as opposed to doing it the other way around.

And, since I know you want screenies:

Um. How do we check if 'deep color' mode is available on our machines? Last I checked there were 'true color' and 'high color' only...

Hello...

Deep color is 32 bit color. Normal game color is 16 bit color.

I imagine the higher quality one should be default and lower quality one optional. Its hard to imagine a computer that can run this 2D game only on 16-bit colors. Every computer has 2D (and even 3D) 32-bit colors nowaday and has had for like eons when I think about it.

Oh and the ships look nice btw.

They look a lot better. Be interesting to see exactly HOW big that patch file is going to be... and WHEN it shows up...

I imagine it'll be somewhere in the 50-60mb range. New Art, the original 8 scenarios redone with the new OOB, plus 5-6 new scenarios. It will definately be the biggest patch to date.

Also, to run deepColor, right click on your WPO (and WitP, if you want) Quick Start shotcut, and in the target line, at the end after the last quote, add "-deepColor" without the quotes, so it looks like: "C:\Matrix Games\War Plan Orange\War Plan Orange.exe" -deepColor

You can also add the line -altFont for a bigger font that is easier to read, so that appears (with -deepColor) like this:  "C:\Matrix Games\War Plan Orange\War Plan Orange.exe" -altFont -deepColor

Note that the new command strings are case sensitive.

Great!! Using -altFont has made a world of difference, thanks. I've always thought the original font was a bit too small.

Like the new style for ships. Can you antialias the planes as well?
My attempts have been futile at best.

Thanks
