Super game. And it's taking up far too much of my free time (try playing with 256 megs and then take out the 32 for your integrated gfx card

).
One question I do have, is there or are there any plans for a full Kreta campaign?
I'd do it myself but I found out years ago I can't mod maps. So even if someone has a full map for Crete that would go miles in setting me on my way.
In exchange, I'd be quite happy to research the 5th Mountain Division and the commanders for public use

mefi,
Welcome.
I'm glad you are enjoying COTA.
Re Full Kreta campaign. No not from us. Our focus is now on finishing the patch for COTA and then getting our next title, Battles from the Bulge ( BFTB ) out the door around Xmas. We are already a bit behind due to the patch taking longer.
A word of caution though. Crete is a big island, too big for the Game to handle in one map. The time required for route finding on such a large map would grind the pace of the game down to a slow crawl. Also the land rises incredibly sharply once you go 10 to 20kms inland. The difference in elevation is immense and would require an extremely large countour interval to fit into our current 16 contour layers. Ideally we would like to upgrade our Map data structures to provide for far more contour layers, but that will have to wait some time I'm afraid.
Historically the battle for Crete was decided on the northern coast, which we have covered. There were few actions of any consequence inland or in the south. So as you can see there were good reasons why we did not bother with mapping and covering actions further inland.

Thanks for the reply Arjuna
I'm really enjoying the game. Maybe it's the old 'I want more' syndrome kicking in with wanting the full Crete map. If it's not possible, then fair enough. I was just wishing for a bigger overview of the invasion - similar to the Maltese one. I guess that's why you've included the mod tools though so I guess I'll have to see how big I can get before my PC grinds to a churning halt - which will be way before the game engine starts to get worried I'm positive
Good luck with the patch and with your new title.

Arjuna,
What changes would I need to make (or could make) in order to do a series of battles in Malaya/Singapore? I am just wondering if the 'woods' terrain can be renamed to jungle any way? would I need probably need a paint program of some sort for this? Is there a way to make equipment and unit estabs for the Japanese army? Any advice on this from yourself or others is appreciated.
Just getting to grips with my own continuation of the 'On to Lamia' fantasy scenario's that you guys put in (tutorials) so im fairly new still in the editing department.
Edit: Maps. Where would I get good maps from for this campaign? Are they available for photocopying anywhere? or online?

Re Mapping. You're best bet is to seek out the map library at your nearest library. We're pretty fortunate here in Canbera we have access to the Australian National Library and they have a great map library. They will scan the maps for us and give them to us on CD. We then orient, crop and splice the maps to form the map underlay. This is then used in the MapMaker and we create the various lines and areas by tracing over the underlay.
Re Map Graphics - these can be edited in a basic editing program. I use Paint Shop Pro. Others use Photoshop and still other use MS Paint. If your artistic abilities are as limited as mine, then I'd ask one of the other budding artists on this forum to knock you up something.
Re Estabs. We do not provide an Estab editor. So you are stuck with the existing estabs - both equipment and units.

Rightio,
I will look for a decent contour map. Will also ask my brother and see if any of his uni mates can get hold of any.
Since my artistic abilities only seem to amuse children, I will make a post on here when I have the maps.
And since the estabs are limited......hmm.....I will check out the Japanese Weaponry and see if any of the armies make the cut for similarity.

I have a map I got from the internet that I want to create in the map Maker, and you mention using a digital image (graphic) as an underlay...but I can't see how you can load the underlay in the map maker. I'm reading the map maker manual, and following the "from new" section...but it doesn't mention anything about using a map as an underlay for copying.
Can you help please?
