For new players in particular, some great info is buried in all the verbiage. Either use the "search" feature, or start from page one.

I think the search feature on these boards replaces every search word with an antonym, then throws in one or two random words.

I've never been able to get the search feature to work.. so yea you have to start at page 1 and go through each page.

Might be time for some different sub-forums...

How do I....

etc....

also perhaps the mods can move threads to the appropriate sub-forums to clean things up from time to time, since the search feature was obviously dreamed up by Bud Selig. <G>

Personally I would like to see some of the dedicated gamers that are on this site often be promoted to mods if they want to be mods. Alot of them already handle alot of the questions the newbie's ask. They could clean the forum up some and organize it better for Shaun to find all the bugs etc..

When ever I have tried to search no matter what I try and use, the search reports no matches. Even when I searched for Pure Sim as a test????[:@]

Asked about that awhile back, but never got any attention from those in charge...

I was able to use the search function ok when I was trying to hunt down the URL for the "send a file to Shaun" link that he passes out.

Bump

I dont think the search button works all that great. If I do a search for XML or deadball, I get like 6 threads from 2005

Yeah, I get the same thing. At least the last time I tried using it, it seemed like it only got stuff through 2005.

Not the first forum to have a crap search function. Someone explained to me that they put a heavy hit on a server when someone uses the function, but I have no clue whether that's true or not.
