question on automatic victory

Hi there.

I'm currently playing one game against a friend (PBEM) and one game vs. the A.I.

In the game vs. the A.I. , I've got more than 4 times the VP of the A.I. in april 1942. I'm still on the offensive... Now, my question: As the current situation stands, I'm on my way to an automatic victory in 1943, but I was wondering, can I choose to continue the game, or does it end? Because, I really don't want the game to end....

Thanks in advance!

EDIT: OOps! Wrong forum! Can a moderator please move to correct forum? I'm so sorry, I was reading AARs and forgot to post in the correct forum. Won't happen again.

Don't know if much moderators are active on this season.... In WITP it is not so difficult to achieve a ratio of 4 to 1 between April and June 1942, the difficulty is to keep it until the end of the year... the Allied player will probably score 300-500 points each month at least, and you probably took all his bases worth a lot of points, so you will have to keep his losses four times higher yours.... not an easy thing to do in late 1942.

If you have an automatic victory in the end of 1942, you can choose to continue the game. But it's not so common in PBEM.

Edited: oops, see too late you play against the AI... things should be easier then. You may still continue in 1943 after automatic victory but my advice will be to commit to a PBEM when you will start to be bored of the AI.... even it it's slower, it is far more interesting.

Oh, that's great! The A.I. isn't giving me as much trouble as my friend is, but I can play much faster against the A.I. and try out different war tactics. I mean, once 1943-1944 rolls on, you'll have a hard time anyway as Japan right, even if you're playing against the A.I.?

PS: Well, if there ever is a moderator coming this way...

PSS: I was thinking of writing an AAR, but the style here all seems the same, cut'n past combat reports. I really enjoy story-telling AARs (such as those found for HOI) Do you think people will enjoy one for WitP?

There had been all kinds of AAR here, with more or less different PoV.

Some were written from first person PoV but it was a long time ago...

There was a team PBEM where you can follow Yossarian of Catch 22 across the Pacific (the name of the AAR: Fear and Loathing in the Pacific (3x3 MPBEM) ). Also this AAR had excellent maps and a funny way to explain WITP bugs (with a special team of FBI chasing paranormal phenomenons). This AAR is closed as this game ended with an Allied victory in the second half of 1942 (Japan surrenders).

An original one still running is "Spence vs Dixon - The first year scenario". No combat report and few maps, but a lot of historical pictures with propaganda reports. As in WWII, both sides will claim victory (or at least a successfull retreat, or to have the victory of the enemy very costly) in every battle. The fun is to try to find what it really going on.... As someone explained the Japanese official history during WWII was: Japan won battles at Tarawa, then in Mariannas, then in PI, then on Okinawa
