Database Help and a favor needed

I have had my old DB but have had issues getting it up in an access editor. Now keep in mind that most of these platforms were other folks, the old TPF's and such and I used Tom Wenck's PF editor to make the 30 or so platforms that were created by me. I would love to be able to use these again, especially my SR-91A.

Could a DB guru download this and see if it is salvageable or not? If so can one convert it to something that I can see in Access? It would be appreciated greatly.[&o]

JRyan (aka Ethan Atsinger)

I grabbed the database from Image

I tried to import the database into the DB editor created by Jan Reimer with MicroSoft Access. The process crashed when it tried to import the Propulsion annex.

I then tried to load the 17 annexes individually. Thirteen loaded without any problem, but four are likely corrupted and gave me some kind of problem after loading partially:

Propulsion annex crashed after loading 754 entries. The last entry ID number was 782.
Sensor annex crashed after loading 1160 entries. The last entry ID number was 1216.
Warhead annex crashed after loading 401 entries. The last entry ID number was 404.
Weapon annex crashed after loading 856 entries. The last entry ID number was 935.

I am not able to reconstruct any further. If you like, I can send what I have, but I don't think that it will be very useful to you.

1) The annexes that loaded refer to entries missing in the corrupted annexes.
2) Even if all the annexes had been uncorrupted, I believe that there were some problems with this database.

For example, the Ship and Mount annexes appear to be uncorrupted. However, the Ship annex refers to some mounts that simply are not found in the Mount annex.

Can you be more specific on the 30 entries that you might want to salvage? Perhaps some of the data can be recovered. I can certainly look if you specify the platforms.

Sorry that I could not have been more helpful. Hopefully, someone else more adept with Access may be able to assist in the recovery of your data.

For your convenience, I've posted what I managed to salvage from the file posted on HarpoonPages to Files Of ScenShare. I hope that it helps.

Hi JRyan

Imported with error in Prop., looked and found a entry with a nonsence nuber at the end and removed. Now loads ok, compacted and saved. Loads and saves ok. Still works with PFEDIT. Have fun. New to forum, so will need instruction on how to get file back to you.

I am sending the DB as I managed to recover. I have looked for the planes that you mentioned. They are all there, but not are not all complete. For example, the SR-71 has sensors listed that are missing from the Sensors annex. I hope that this helps.

Name: Name
SR-91A AURORA
SR-71R BLACKBIRD
F-23 Gray Ghost
S-4A Thor

Sea Dragon and BCGN North Carolina are also there with some of the same problems. I hope that you have better luck with VistaJohn's process. [8D]

Hi

Its been sent. You are welcome. Looked at some of the platforms. Is it OK if I add them to my DB? Looked interesting.

Thanks I got it! Will try it over the weekend.

As for using the platforms? Absolutely, no issues whatsoever........That BCGN is a nice one to play with or at least it was....

You are welcome. [:)]

The BCVN is also in the PlayersDB. We used Ed Ladner's hypothetical arrangement from the HUD-II. Is that the same one you are basing it on?

No scenarios made with it, yet, but I did run a test scen with the unit and it was interesting. [8D]

Ok guys I got it open and looked around. One thing I learned is that I have no clue as to what the hell I am doing or was doing at the time. It would seem that some of the records such as loadouts are messed up but can be fixed when I get the time. I want to thank both of you for doing what you did. I do have it saved now and can now start playing with it some more.

As for the BCVN, I made it up, I do not know wether it matches another one, I highly doubt it to be honest as mine has a rather large hanger :) and lots of armor to boot.

Looking back at it though, it really shows just how clueless I am with Db's.

Thanks again guys...[:D]
