I know there are very good players out there. And I know some names Sure would be a exciting contest. I will play with any house rule (no mules, no finn attacks...) no problem for that.
The main objective is to play for fun...and win of course
I will wait patienly my hangman...

well well , no mules or finns, air supply or cheating then ?
a tall order!
how about no cheating just honest playing and no peeking at the other players moves .
rules
1 no mules
2 air supply only if out of supply
3 no peeking at moves ( daguerre)
4 panzer corps to conatin panzer division
5 play the game as it was meant to be
interested , i prefer the germans .
let me know.

Willie, I read the word "cheat" 2 times in your post. Ihave played games with you. Is for me?
The rule 3 and other Daguerre discoveries are news for me.
Rule 5 is oK for me but always is interesting if no cheating.
Just you surprise me. Send your turn.

I haven't the faintest. Since we all are full of opinions, we'll probably never stop arguing about rules, approach, choice of side to play etc etc. But it can be good fun trying to set it up

Since we will never agree on everything, better let someone who does not want to participate in the tournament decide everything (house rules, tournament system etc) and then the others of can participate or not. That same person could also be the arbiter of any disputes. Any voulunteers?

Possible Tournament Proceedure
Find a set No of players who wish to compete
That number must be either 4,8,16 or 32.
(lets assume 16)
Random selection Starts 8 initial games that lead to 4 semi's then 2 finals and at the end the Grand Face off.
For a total of 4 sets of games.
The game played would be '41 campaign to end on last turn of 1941.
Scoring would be by cities captured and would have to be worked out. And also casualties.
The points for cities would need to have some depth ie Mscw 3, Lngrd 2, Khakov 1, Rstv 2
Vrnehz 2 Tivkn 1 Smlsk 1 Sevspl 1 exct exct.
As the Sovs are getting a chance for blizzard reversal of fortunes.
Losses would be proportinal ie: 1Pt per 10K squads , 2K Tanks and 5K Air regarding Sov losses and 1Pt
per 2.5K squads .5K tanks and 1K air regarding axis losses .
All house rule apply and must be locked before the whole thing starts.
Its about 25 turns to the end of 41 so i think 2 months per round is fair( 1 turn every 2 days or so to allow for unfortunate events that hold up a game)
All above numbers are ball park stuff.
Also you need a moderator to run the whole thing.
8 or 16 competitors seems the only two viable options.
Before the whole thing started EVERYONE must be satisfied that the scenerio is balanced. This is done with the points allocated to cities and losses, not harsher or softer house rules.
What side you will get in each game is totally random. (heads or tails) Unless both players stipulate a side and there is no conflict
(not so sure on this point)
Another option is if say 8 of the 16 think they are 'the right stuff' and 8 are not so confident.
In this case there could be two parralel tourny's labled A and B with 4 initial/2 semi and 1 face off in each. The benifit of this is one less round to complete the entire process.
Actually 8 players competing all up is probably more reasonable ( are there 16 of you out there who would play??)

I post a new topic about the tournament. We will know exactly how many people are interested and we will can argue about the rules and scenarios There are some good ideas from Loki.
