I am curious as to how many of you also play War In the Pacific and if you do or do not, why? What, if any, advantages does War Plan Orange have over WiTP? I am absolutley addicted to WiTP and though I am not looking for any other game at the moment, knowing it is based on the WiTP engine, down the road I might give it a try. Thanks in advance for any insight you might be able to provide for me.

Lack of airpower makes the game different. Also I like the 20-30's ships and guns (and planes allthough limited). With a lack of airpower submarine warfare gets a bigger role (scouting etc) which is fun too.

WPO is refreshing in that you dont have to micromanage 50+ air squadrons every turn. Still there is lot to do and plan every turn but the game plays differently than WITP. Even the victory conditions are different.

Im absolutely addicted to WPO and I have no plans to play WITP until Im finished here. Id say both games are great and youre missing half the fun if you dont own both of them.

The Complete Pacific War from 1923 to 1946. [&o]

I "play" WITP exclusively now, since I'm on the support team, but I actually like WPO more and miss being able to play it (I had several enjoyable PBEMs - documented in the AARs). WPO is a "NAVAL" game. WITP is an "AIR" game. I like "NAVAL" games. In WPO you can (try to) blocade a port with surface ships and submarines. And you can do "close" blocade (at least in the 22-23 period) as not enough airppower to drive you away. Those types of things are really cool for me. Also, the dreadnoughts are the "arbiters" of power, as it should be!!!
