Sporadic problems loading PBEM files

We have been playing Nik's scenario through June, 1942. Lately, the files my opponent (Japanese) have been sending me won't always load correctly. It says "saved game failed to load." Sometimes it is the replay file, and sometimes it is the game file. Sometimes several turns will pass without a problem. Moreover, none of the game files I have sent him have created this problem at his end.
Has anyone else had this sporadic problem and is there anything we can do about it?

Yes, we have had it a couple of times. It sounds as if your problems are more frequent.

I've seen the same problem in a couple of my games, my theory is that is related to mail server issues since my opponent reports that he can load the turn he sent to me.. I've found that having my opponent zip the files seems to fix the problem.
Regards, Steve.

I have had this problem a number of times but I have discovered an intersting fact:
When I load the save from the e-mail via my local mail handler (Microsoft Outlook Express) it gets an error ("saved game failed to load").
HOWEVER when it occurs and I go back to my ISP mail and load directly to the save file it works every time. Apparnetly Outlook Express is occassionally corrupting the file.

Zipping the files appears to have solved the problem. We've played a whole week without another problem. Thanks.
