bugs in gameplay

Hi all,
I got some gameissues that makes me mad...
1. Its impossible to hit buildings without enemies in it? I tried to hit a building with HE round and it says "sighting blocked". But I have a clear view. Now I think its possible to shot just on enemies in buildings, but not on buildings its self. Terrible bug to forget indirect fire.
2. Where in god sake is smoke? Someone should say to developers that tanks use smoke in battle !
3. How to set Stuka targets? Stukas attacked targets on their own. I was not able to find a way to set targets for them. I can set targets for arty with spot button but cant handle Stukas???
I just hope some mods will make this game playable. Until that Im off with this game.

hermes,
No need to be mad - these are not bugs you're reporting, but rather design choices.

It's definitely possible, just click near the edge of a building by the wall you want to hit with area fire. The HE fire box should partly or fully overlap the buildling, depending on the size of the round.

Yep, we know all about smoke, but implementing it is planned for the first expansion rather than the initial release. The time required to get it right was too long for the initial release, particularly since while it was used tactically, it was not widely featured in this campaign. For the expansion, we'll have artillery, tank and infantry smoke.
3. How to set Stuka targets? Stukas attacked targets on their own. I was not able to find a way to set targets for them. I can set targets for arty with spot button but cant handle Stukas???
All airpower does its own sighting and chooses its own targets. I'm a bit surprised that you lament the absence of smoke, which I agree is a historical feature, but want to individually target air support planes, which is definitely very ahistorical. We decided to model airpower as it would be viewed by a commander on the ground. There is even a small chance it will target your own side.
I just hope some mods will make this game playable. Until that Im off with this game.

I'm sorry you're upset, but #1 is definitely possible in the game as is, #2 is scheduled for the first expansion and #3 is historical.
Regards,
- Erik

thx. for reply
1. If hiting near edge of building will help then its fine. Thx for aid.
2. Useing smoke for defence or tactical movement is VERY important. At least for me and my gameplay. I hope u will add it soon.
3. If u set a spot button for Stuka it WILL be historical accurate. In 1942 it was possible for a ground commander to direct airstrikes by radio. It was not a direct contact to pilot, but to HQ who then directed airstrikes. For those purposses Stukas been build as a light support bomber. They were very effective against armor or infantry. And for commander on the ground its a tactical advantage.
I ordered your game from Slovakia, Europe and with physical shippment it costed me 52Euro. I hope your expansion will be free of charge. Its very unfair to publish unfinished game and then finish it with paid expansions.
In fact this game has a big potential and I hope u developers will make best of it. Thx.

"Direct airstrikes" how? Consider the scale of the game map. The best that a ground commander could have arranged with the method you describe is a strike against, say, the armour somewhere in front of him, i.e somewhere on the game map... rather than several miles away. There is no way an individual platoon could be targetted amongst several by the ground commander; its hard enough even today.

Hertson is correct. Few junior officers of the German or Russian armies had a direct link with their air forces. The "cab rank" system of the Western Allies in 1944 was very unique.

Your are mixing things up a bit with regards to tactical airstrikes by Stukas or tacair in general.
Certain subunit commanders were possible to call in airstrikes, that is true, but they were not able to direct them to single tanks, let alone single platoons or sections. As a subunit commander, even as laison officer that has more direct contact, you only give the general area of were you want the strike to happen.
If you want direct control as a subunit commander you must have direct communications to the pilot or at least be able to "mark" the target for him. The last thing is possible today but nor a general procedure. If you have to go via a HQ unit you loose direct control and HQ itself can certainly not direct the pilot(s) to aim for that 2 T-34s 100m left of that barn with the bush in front of it [;)]

thx for feedback to all. I dont mean to spot single units, but an area where your commander needs help. I recognise this cant be done by spot button. For example at 2nd campaign mission on german side I splited my army in 2 parts. Both parts did engaged on different loacations. I was in need for air help on one side, but AI chossed to attack other part where help was not urgent.
