*New evil swedish war*
6/22/41
Turn 1
Josan let me replay the first turn while he is learning the pbem-program. I made some mistakes last time so this time I´ve tried to do new variation on the opening move. A problem facing a player with Josans reputation is that you may get to cautious or over-ambitious. We will see how this turned out, initial russian casualties are great. But as I´m rather new to pbem, I´m far away from sure this is the best first move.
FINISH FRONT;
19th russian corps attacked along the railroad forcing it to retreat.
NORTH;
Massive air attacks against Leningrad Fronts strong air-fleet. Riga falls and 3rd mech corps in Kaunas surrounded. 82 000 and 480 guns are taken prisoners.
CENTER;
West Front shatters due to the immense pressure. Vilna, Biyalistok and Brest-Litovsk(thank god!) falls. Russian 11th mech corps surrounded. 6th and 14th mech corps surrender; 46 000 men and 1445 tanks are captured.
SOUTH;
Lvov-pocket squeezed resulting in 15th, 4th and 8th russian mech corps out of supply. Tarnopol falls. 22nd mech corps, 8th and 27th infantry corps surrender totaling 106 000 men, 576 guns and 592 tanks.
In the south Bessarabia is overrunned.
Total losses
German - Soviet
318 / 9627 squads
56 / 2364 AFV
7 / 3425 guns

Loveman, I´ve only read what Lorenzo posted about Josans tactics, can you tell me something more. He seems good at cuting off supply lines and to use the red airforce properly. What else?

Ok, but what makes him so much better than all you others?
Bombing of factories is certainly a useful strategy, especially with the VVS gone. However results are often mixed and luftwaffe casualties high. Besides that keeping luftwaffe strong might be necessary to help shatter dummy units in ground support missions. We´ll see...

Turn 3
Heavy fighting in the south. The red airforce is surely missed by soviet army-commanders as their forces are beeing pounded mercyless. The enemy is massing forces and shock-armies around Kiev.
FINISH FRONT;
4th finish corps succesfully bombs the russian 1st army located in northern Leningrad, inflicting 2000 casualties. Mannerheims forces begins to fortify positions around Leningrad and near Viipuri.
Konev in charge of the russian defence.
NORTH;
Intense bombing of tank-formations near Leningrad. 4th pz army drives to the gates of Pskov. Little resistance, 1 dummy shattered.
CENTER;
Panzers continue to surge forward. No resistance visual, 2 dummy units surrounded. Otherwise quiet here.
SOUTH;
The russian forces cut off south of Lvov was infact 4 armies(russian formation changed name from corps to armies). 3 of them surrender in total 90 000 men with 450 guns and 590 tanks. 40th army holds against attacks made by the rumanians 3rd army.
1st Pz army strikes against the city of Kiev. The attack begins after that the whole Luftwaffe bombed the strong russian formations. 4 dummys shatters, 1 retreats but the attack against Kiev itself fails as Zhukov defendes brilliantly.
In the south, Uman area is cut off and the rumanians marches in to the abandon city of Odessa.
total losses;
german - soviet

Turn 4
Successful turn in all, but I seriously starting to doubt if I´m attacking right with the panzers. Casualties are rising...
FINISH FRONT;
More artillery bombardment of Leningrad garrison.
NORTH;
Pskov falls and 4th pz are rushing forward. 2 dummy units surrender. Not much action, driving deep may very well cause a cut of the supply lines, but I´ve gotta push hard now. RVGK-hq visible near Demyansk cv 6(fighters??)!!!
CENTER;
Vitebsk, Mogilev and Gomel falls, very little resistance. 5 dummy units shatter. Vasilevskii in charge of russian defence.
SOUTH;
The whole Luftwaffe continues to pound the 2nd shock army in Kiev. a lot of Mig 3:s shows up and the battle in the air ends with even casualties. 1st pz army then strikes with all its panzer-korps towards the garrison forcing it to retreat and capturing the city. It however takes 7(!) attacks and above all Stalin taking command from Zhukov to achieve vitory. Russian anti-tank guns wipes out around 70 german panzers 3#2%4&**/+!!!!
But the worst beeing that no advance were made in to the city(as far as I could see) so the russian can retake it next turn. F*ck, f*ck, f*ck!
Never again I use panzers to take fortified cities. crossing the dniepr with panzers is out of the question as the russian army is to strong here....
Further south 2 dummy units shatter and Uman falls. Unfortunately no russian units in the pocket. Next stop Dniepr...?
Near Lvov the rumanians force 40th army to surrender 30 000 men.
Total losses
german - soviet
819 / 17618 squads
177 / 5824 AFV
67 / 5995 Guns
435 / 8011 aircraft
Hitler thinks the war is won, Fieldmarschall Kuniworth think the Fuhrer should follow von Rundstedts advice and withdraw to orginal borders.

Turn 5 -
1 month in to the war, the german advance continues all along the front. The german infantry have seen no action at all, panzers are sweeping forward. Russian defence is consisting mostly of dummy units. The german panzers are ordered to crush every visible dummy to avoid cut in supply. It´s like crushing egg-shells with a sledgehammer.
FINISH;
Bombardment continues of Leningrad. 3000 russian dies.
NORTH;
2 dummy units shatter. 56th pz korps under Manstein was last turn cut off in the demyansk-crossing and now restores supplylines. Reinhardt´s 41st pz advance to 40 miles outside Leningrad. Estonia isolated.
CENTER;
The enemy moved up strong formations to the center. 2nd shock army last seen in Kiev is pushed out of Smolensk. Bryansk also falls along with Velikiye Luki. 7 dummy units destroyed.
SOUTH;
Kiev-defence evacuated(why??) so 1st pz army easily captures the city and crosses the dniepr.
In the south two pz korps stumbles in to a unit in Dnepropetrovsk and forcing it to retreat to capture the city.
4 dummys annihilated in the south.
total losses after 1 month
906 / 19357 squads
203 / 6010 AFV
90 / 6505 Guns
469 / 8031 aircraft

Turn 6 - Victorious landoperation, but the red airforce is showing presence. I have no clue where the VVS is stationed. Could be a problem in the near future.
FINISH FRONT;
A finish korps withdraws from Leningrad due to supply-problems.
NORTH;
4th pz reaches Leningrad, 18th and 16th army will reach the cities defencelines next week. 56th pz korps was last russian turn yet again surrounded and supplylines now cleared by infantry. The enemy is massing 20-25 armies(more???) between Leningrad and Demyansk.
CENTER;
Victory! 2nd and 3rd panzer armies secures the area between Smolensk-Bryansk. The russian loses 100 000 men in casualties and 90 000 surrenders. 500 tanks captured, around 300 destroyed. Russian 62nd army(under Chuikov - the hero of Stalingrad), 12 army, 65th army, 3rd shock and 4th shock army exists no more. Battle of Moscow is slowly enveloping...
2 dummies destroyed. Minor setback when a dummy withstand an odds of 1113-1 and retreats. Unbeliavable...
The advance around Velikiye Luki very slow because of the threat from the infantry-hordes near Demyansk. German infantry of the 9th army is unfortunately to far away to attack on a broad front.
SOUTH;
Josan succesfully stationed strong troops around Dnepropetrovsk to stop any panzer-advance against Stalino until 11th army catches up. A pz korps anyway breaksthrough to aid in 1st pz armys advance on Kharov. 1st pz army meanwhile is seemingly facing no resistance on the russian steppes, and spreads out.
In the south 4th rumanian army crosses in to the crimean penninsula.
Hitler are ordering fortification to be built in key-positions if the campaign drags out to winter.
total losses
german - soviet
1130 / 24319 squads
340 / 7093 AFV
175 / 8541 Guns
556 / 8270 Aircraft

The evil swedish general herr Kuniworth are probing to be a very tough german player.
The attempt to place a seriously line of defense around Smolensk has been unsuccesful. One more time, the Luftwaffe was decisive.
Fresh troops are now waiting the germans in the Vyazma second line of defense... <img src="tongue.gif" border="0">
In the North the initial attacks from the 4pz Army to the soviet first line of defense around Leningrad has been repulsed but seem Manstein Pz Korps have now supply. A heavy attack is expected but where? in Demyansk or directly to Leningrad? Russian reinforcements from the South has been placed in the sector.
In the South the main line of defense is now in Stalino. The VVS is striking the front. A pz korps from AGS is seriousy disrupted by soviet pilot bombers. His experience in combat are rising.
The Victory is our. Long live Stalin!!!!

A computer-virus has hampered the german war-effort. Fieldmarschall Kuniworth got his harddrive deleted and the campaign in the east is halted. Russian sabotage is suspected, but the military intelligence however find no links to the mighty josan.
We will see when the campaign will continue.
